Animal Tracker works great. IF you scan for small animals, you can bring up your map and it will show any small animals in the area. Saves searching. :)
The pipe guns guarantee I get them. And physician will allow me to make all the first aid bandages I need.
After that, It's all up to what I want to do. :) This time, I got the guns for hunting, but I'm going to go full stun baton. :) I sure hope it's worth it. But, if it doesn't just a swig of Granpa's Forgetten elixer and I can reallocate my points I had to spend at the beginning. (such as points to clubs in the beginning. )
Hunter > Tracker/yield perks (Endurance)
Scavenger > Loot yield (Perception)
Raider > Stamina (Strength)
Builder > Barter/harvest yield (Intelligence/Strength)
Get Agility perks for increased mobility (i.e. Parkour)
i can't stress enough to keep an open mind and assign perks as you NEED them during the first week or two. you'll thank yourself later when/if you get cornered and overrun inside a poi. running out of stamina is a death sentence in this game. be as flexible as possible, i was rocking Q1 gear for most of the first week with the exception of the higher quality pieces of gear/weapons i managed to loot.
combat is NOT your staple for survival, reducing hunger, thirst and stamina costs is very important. especially as a new player, after a few restarts (i promise there will be at least 3 of them for you lol) you'll start to see the pattern you want to take through skills, leave it open ended so you can throw points in where needed.
I will look into pack mule, master chef and sexy rex.
-now for the bacon and eggs, can i assume the bacon part is from hunting boars?
Animal tracker :)
I would advice to watch this: https://youtu.be/P03VW5o6f88
Guy actually knows what he is talking about.
(also consider starting already on experimental)
I just build a storage and workshop shack on stilts across from the first trader. It's best to build your horde base separate from your storage. Don't want them destroying chests full of loot n stuff. If I don't feel like building my horde base yet I just convert any old poi for the first horde night (It doesn't take much to withstand the day 7 horde). My horde base is usually within sight of my storage base so I can get to mats quickly, but far enough away that a horde spawning from the wrong direction won't run them through my storage base.
Good for breaking into places, good for making places, good for buried quests.
1 point in daring adventurer is never bad, if you plan to do quests. 1 point in charismatic nature is good if playing with a friend that'll do the same.
Some good skills to consider are:
-Sexual Tyrannosaurus: Good with basically any build. It will make your melee attacks and mining/gathering far more sustainable.
-Miner 69er: You'll be gathering materials, whether you focus on strength or not.
-Master Chef: The first level teaches you the basic Grilled Meat food, which is a staple food in a lot of cases.
-Animal Tracking: Very good for finding basic animals to hunt for food. You can have a very hard time spotting rabbits in particular without this skill.
-Living off the Land: Gives you twice as much out of plants you gather from. Very useful, especially if you travel to something like the desert biome to gather yucca and aloe, or for chrysanthemum and cotton early on.
