Thanks! didn't knew that.
Not the prettiest place to set up a base.
Hopefuly they will improve the random terrain generator in the future.
I don't know if it's an exploit, but I found that you can get infinite water. I can't remember the steps exactly, but I believe that if you put two water sources next to each other with buckets, then fill the bucket from one of them, it doesn't go away. So you could fill your bucket, then fill your jars, then put the water back. It's tedious and maybe cheap, but I can't spend every day looking for water because a) it's not fun and b) there are other dangers to worry about like, oh I dunno, zombies?
If you create a large box using the wood blocks, you can pour a bucket of water into the box. Then scoop up the water into buckets. I was trying to see if irrigating some fertile soil helped my plants and poured out 2 buckets. It went over the edges so I scooped up all the water getting 6 buckets. I don't know how far this exploit will go but it has potential right now.
Also look for swimming pools in towns, ponds in cities, and gather snow to melt down in frozen biomes, as others have said. I usually find enough water in cabinets in random prefabs and towns to keep me going without having to even bother purifying any, unless needed for other recipes.
Blue.
Early game though, you're better off just looting everything you find (preferrably in small towns), you should be able to get enough jars of water to get you through until you find an actual water source.
But somehow that doesn't make sense...
Why would you take a bucket when you can fill your jars right there?
It is just more work.
*get water*
*fill jars*
*get water again*
*fill jars*
...
If you mean a magical water well that never runs dry... nope.
If you mean a magical water well that never runs dry... YES.
The trick is to keep a bucket next to your water well. When you create your water well and then fetch water from an existing source to fill with using a bucket, keep the bucket after you fill your self made water well. Take a stack of empty bottles dip them into the well to fill them. About the 2nd time you do this you will see the water in that section of the well disappear. If you made the well large enough, take your empty bucket and scoop water from the side of the well that still has water and then dump it back into the well. It is tedious and manual but this will "in effect" provide you with the never ending water well you are used to making in Minecraft.
