I assume you are hosting a multiplayer world on the same machine you use for gaming?
Edit : to clarify : hosting a server instance of 7days to die and creating a savegame with the option "survival multiplayer" is not the same thing
The first method basically creates a true server that runs directly on your computer (or whereever you choose to install it) and your game world will always be online as long as your computer and internet access are always up as well.
The second method creates a simple hosted game that runs directly from your game client and it requires you to have both the game open and you to be logged into the game at all times for the game world to be online. This isn't a true server but rather just a hosted game through LAN basically and all of the information is stored on your hard drive. If you log off the game, it breaks the host and your friend will always be kicked off and there is no way for you to change that through this method.
