This is the cheapest way to get Reinforced Concrete (A13.6)
Brick/Brick Paver -> Reinforced Concrete

A brick block requires 20 clay to create (4 lumps of clay). You need 10 concrete mix to upgrade it to a Reinforced Concrete block, much cheaper and faster than creating rebar frames, using wood and waiting for the concrete to set.

EDIT: Zig-Zag-Man mentioned that upgrading flagstone is even easier. You can craft flagstone with 1 cement (3.2 stones) and 10 stones. This upgrades directly to reinforced concrete as well.

I just wanted to highlight how ridiculous these upgrade paths are. Even though it's just a game and it doesn't need to be realistic, it doesn't even make sense from a balance perspective. I don't think anything except the rebar frame path should be turning into reinforced concrete considering how strong it is.

It feels like it's going to get worse before it gets better. As long as we're discussing these problems and bringing them into the spotlight, things will improve.

I dont like the upgrade paths. Some are horribly expensive and others just dont make sense.

Wood should never upgrade all the way to concrete. Have 2-3 upgrades per block type, that's it.

Yea not a big fan myself. Wood should only upgrade as far as metal reinforced wood. With various upgrade paths for other materials. Logical ones, not wood through to concrete, through to steel. It was better when you had to plan ahead or start over when you were ready for the concrete base IMO. We lost a lot of building strategy with this change. I do like that you can upgrade POIs now, I just think it is a little silly to go from wood siding to reinforced concrete or steel. Should be a limit to how far wood can be upgraded/or how far a stone type block can be, or how far a metal type block can be. The current 1 path for all system, is just too gamey I find.

@OP

If you dig enough you're going to find a ton of errors in the xmls right now.

MadMole is literally working on sorting this type of stuff now, everything had to be balanced from almost scratch for A13.

I think thats why 13.7 is taking a bit, they are trying to get the details sorted better, and give us a better foundation, then move on to A14

Fancy there being some E&O in an Early Alpha game. I think I will join you in your protest. I admire the way you have decided to tell the world that you will no longer play this game. Join together Brothers and Sisters !! Abandon the game because the upgrade path doesn't make sense !!

Oh wait:

You magically appear in your skimpies in the middle of nowhere with Food, Water and a few basic supplies. That doesn't make sense .. what if you are a vegetarian !!

When you die you magically get resurrected, but a bit weaker.. Are you a clone? an Alien ? is this some VR nightmare ??

When you die you lose everything.. why don't you lose your underpants !!

You can make a failry mechanically complicated blunderbuss out of a few bits of scrap. THAT IS NONSENSE !

You can weave grass into functional clothing .. go in try that in real life !

You can turn iron ore into scrap metal WITH YOUR BARE HANDS !! This is just getting silly now !!

Actually none of it makes sense !! Demand an explanation for everything from the developers NOW ... Quick someone start a change.org petition !

Oh hold on .. it's a GAME... silly me

There is even a faster way to upgrade to reinforced concrete, find yourself a stone or brick prefab, one suitable for a base headquarters, with copious amounts of mixed concrete and a repair tool, right click each block for a complete reinforced concrete structure.
