Infinite Water Source
Can i still dig a hole and make a infinite water source? I dug the usual one block but it only gave me 15 jars worth. How big does it have to be to be infinite or is that impossible now?

Far as I can tell there is infinite water left... but only in big ponds and such 5x5 with 3 deep has been about the smallest i've used.
Infinite is supposed to be impossible now, Might be that there are sizes large enough though. A suggestion to try (that has worked since this game was a thing) is to take a bucket, fill it and make the same one block of water. Then go to put it back into the bucket. Right click with bucket in hand and right as the animation to fill it starts, turn away. Look as far from the water as you can, as fast as you can. In my experience, this causes the bucket to fill WITHOUT removing the water you tried to fill it from. This way you can pour the water back after filling your jars. Takes more effort, but it should do as you want it to, make it infinite. You can also use it to create a bunch of filled buckets to expand the water source to your liking. Just need to fill it regularly.
I found an oddity that has worked about half the time for me. I haven't said anything because I can't reproduce the results reliably, but here's my trick:

Slopes. I get 4 slopes and 4 outer frames and have them all point down towards a single block. I pour a bucket of water in the center. Sometimes, water will run through one of the slopes and appear both in the center of the slopes, and outside. When it happens, I can reill the bucket with the water outside the slopes while the water block inside remains untouched.

Again, it seems to only happen half the time, but. Especially since when it doesn't happen I can instantly re-try anyways.
It would be super easy to mod in.

Open the items.xml file...

Search for the bucket, canEmpty, and emptyJar items...

Each of them will have this line:
<property name="Do_block_action" value="deplete1" />

Remove it. Then you can scoop up all the water you want with these items and they won't deplete the source.
Good to know, thanks guys.

Infinite water still exists. Dig a trench 4 blocks long. . put water bucket in middle. Most of the time you can bucket from the sides and keep expanding it.

Still it's pretty pointless now that farm crops neither grow faster or need re-tilling any more. Miss that mechanic : (

Yeah... I really hope they overhaul it again. I rarely set up gardens like I used to simply because it isn't as fun. I mean, in A12 I was growing corn out of the wooden roof of the house I built...
