"EasyAntiCheat.exe to system directory" fails
Hi.
I've decided to install this game again and see how the progression has come so far, after being off it for a good half year, but i run into this issue that the anti cheat thing refuses to install, it just gives me the error as titled, and then after the game window opens and tells me "install error" "EasyAntiCheat Setup failed: Acces to system32 folder denied"

i am the only user of this pc, don't know why it wont install it, searched the interwebs for a solution but i'm got no results, other than going into properties of the windows folder and change ownership to my username.

Windows 8.1 64bit.

did you install as administrator? Right click on the exe for the install in explorer and choose run as administrator. That should fix the issue. System32 is a system directory and you need to be administrator to write to it..

When you say "the exe file". What exe file do you exactly mean? the 7dtd.exe or the installer for the anti cheat?

Just to make it clear incase any one else is having this issue and to check if you are running the installer correctly.

did you go into the "\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\7 Days To Die\EasyAntiCheat" folder and run the "EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe" file as administrator?

Last time I wanted to use EAC I needed to install that. Just running the game exe won't make the install happen (I know it's really stupid but you'd think they'd ask if you wanted to install this when the game is being installed).

Doing that usually will fix this problem. If this dosn't work I suggest you go into the bugs subforum and check how to get help from the devs. They have a website dedicated to reporting bugs.

Yea sorry, i did run the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe as administrator, and still got the acces denied error for windows32 folder.

Thanks, i will try to do that.

Did you ever get easyanticheat to install? I am getting the same error. Running as admin did not work for me.

Nope, still not working - iRacing uses the same anti-cheat and that installed fine for me, but it just won't do it for this game.

I just got my EasyAntiCheat to install successfully. I went into 7 days to die folder and set these 3 .exe files to run as administrator(found in file properties then in compatibility tab, check the box for run as admin)

Here are the file names, 7DaysToDie, 7DaysToDie_EAC and EasyAntiCheat_Setup. That last file is found in the EasyAntiCheat folder within the 7days to die folder.

Then you will need to double click the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe to run/install it.

Maybe you are having a different problem then.

The problem we had was during EasyAntiCheat installation, there were installation progression check marks. The first one was a green check mark for permissions, the second was a RED X for EasyAntiCheat.exe to system directory. Installation never made it further than that.

Took me about a half hour of googling and reading before I figured out my fix.

10/10 worked like a charm
