Rope Ladders, Ropes and Rafts
Would be nice to be able to craft a rope ladder and haul it up after climbing.
Ropes would be handy to climb down into a sink hole (tie one end to a tree or a friend could hold one end)
Creating a raft would be cool (not sure if zombies can swim, but if they do they are better than some humans I know that can't).

I'm not sure if zombies can climb ladders but if so, at least you could haul the ladder up once you've climbed up. Also, if could be handy for those who play PVP.

If the lake is big enough, you could probably build a house boat for a base.
