Has anyone noticed their hat gone missing?

I went to grab my backpack after death and everything was tjeir except my hat. It was a swat helmet and was practically full on health before I died :(
I would think maybe I'm just crazy but I noticed this also happened earlier in the game with a hat I crafted.
All other gear etc I havent noticed an issue with just hats.

I noticed this in one of my games when my Cowboy hat went missing...thought maybe it had gotten damaged/broken and then disappeared (like a Stone Axe).

Now this makes me nervous...because I'm sporting my precious Mining Helmet at the moment and am afraid it will disappear too! I'm keeping a second one in storage just in case :)

i happened to fall off the edge of a cliff with a mining helmet.... i never saw it again =(

I'm losing my mining helmet all the time. Not sure why though, maybe vomit from a cop will break it and then it will disappear like that?

I was thinking something along these lines but im not so sure now. Even with a flawless football helmet its still disappearing and obviously that thing had a ton of durability.

Yeah, I had some flawless (500+) Mining Helmets too that just disappeared like that. Another bug I found with the mining helmet, is that sometimes the light doesn't go on when pressing F (it makes the sound, but no light). I have to take off the mining helmet and put it back on for it to work properly.

My hat disappeared off of my head. I think it broke though. Is that possibly what happened here?

It's been a thing for quite some time but probably more exaggerated now. I check and repair my helmet regularly. It seems to take the brunt of the damage they deal to you. They will break pretty fast if not repaired.

My 300+ dura swat helmet disappeared after dieing.

It seems to me that helmet, chest armor, and gloves rake the majority of damage from fighting. Shirt, jacket, & leg armor take a bit of damage, but nowhere near as much. My pants and boots seem to be invincible. I wonder if its possible that where a zombie hits you on yout body matters. Ever since I found out the hard way crawlers can break your leg with just one swipe, I go out of my way to avoid them more than other zombies. Could that be it?

I think it's bugged. I've had dogs attack my legs and my boots/legs were good as new.

I noticed mine gets destroyed when a zombie hits me. You gotta repair it!

This just happened to my husband while we were playing. He was smushed by a tree (that had already fallen mind you) and when he got his bag back, no hat.
