Well, as I expected 1.0 has completely ruined the armour/clothing system...
They did exactly what I expected, they put a bunch of silly magical bonuses that make no sense on the armour. They also got rid of all clothing so you just have 4 slots and that's it. Gone are the sensible clothing types with different heat/cold protection. Gone is the layering system that made sense and was actually how real armour worked. More pointless, unnecessary dumbing down of yet another game system that was, at one time, just right. Sadly it won't stop there.

This has reduced garment bags, shoes, piles of clothing, dryers, washers, and clothing bins/hampers to being mostly just sources of cloth which means all the variety we used to have when looting these items, all the options we had for clothing, have been tossed out the window and for what? An over simplified, and extremely silly, 4 piece clothing and armour system.

Why do they have to keep over-simplifying everything? Why do they have to keep removing logical systems that both work better and are more fun? They're doing a great job on how the game looks, some of the sounds are great, some of the animations are good, but that's where it stops. Gone are all the interesting and complex systems, the logical systems, the fun systems... this is such a letdown. I really wish they ended up making the game they promised instead of this.

You get used to it, and frankly, the armor sets look great.

Conservatism: noun, "Commitment to traditional values and ideas with opposition to changes or innovation". OED.

I expect urban dictionary would put it. Change is bad, m'kay.

Why is it simplified now?
In previous version you had steel armor tier 6, always the same 4 mods at it and you know you are god now.
If you want to do the same now e.g. with raider or nomad armor you still have lower armor and you need to adjust your mods too as could still be overencoumbered and can't use plates?

There are a few items which are currently a bit to strong, but non is op and if they balance it at release it will overall good.

Heat and cold aren't even an issue anymore, so it's no loss.

I do miss seeing some armour I'd consider using in loot. The old garment bags and the like could use a bit of tweeking to make them a little more satisfying to loot with the new system.

I would also like to see... more mod slots become available in armour more quickly. And pocket mods a little more common. Getting a pocket on each slot via crafting and slowly upgrading them was a nice early game bit of progression thats just gone now, unless you get really lucky with schematics.

As upsetting as cold and heat being non-existent anymore, The new clothes look super good, Much better than the mess of play-dough lego clothes that we'd have (I'm looking at you untextured college jacket), I Think we could probably definitely use a leg/shirt slot, and more clothing variety later on, But the system we have now is pretty good i think.

Everyone's talking about how awful it is that we lost all the customization, But did we really? You character pretty much always looked like garbage by the end of your game, Now you get to actually look cool, Which isn't a loss at all

PC users suffer the dumbing down of 7D2D because TFP want to make it usable on Consoles so they can charge outrageous prices for it.

Look at the shiny, ignore the obvious
CatPerson Jul 11, 2024 @ 7:27pm
They still have plans to re-add weather effects to gameplay - whether they actually will or not who knows. But that could mean another redesign of armor and mods to accomdate. Again, who knows. There's no predicting with TFP.

I think my main thing with the sets is most players are probably going to just end up preferring specific piece bonuses vs. a complete set to get the set bonus. Maybe I'm wrong - and I'm sure there are some min/max set bonus builds that would kick butt on Insane etc - but as an "average" (or these days, even below "average") player I couldn't care less about the set bonuses as given so far. That said, it's fine they're there/exist so others can use them if they want.

Set bonuses are gonna need to be a LOT stronger before people use full sets.
But tbh, I would quite like that. Set bonuses good enough I'd give up 3 really good effecs in order to have.

That's how society works, we are forced to go the same pace as the slowest person.

For example, even if you can drive 200 km/h with no problems, the law says you have to conform to the majority, who drives 90 km/h.

Same principle applies here, that system was great for you, and some people, but they have to conform to the masses who like it simpler and mainstreamed.

the funny fact is the meme pimps refuse to nerf the preacher gloves so everyone will wear them and only them and the others may aswell all be removed :) choice is apparently not wanted.

the assasin setbonus is also so laughable OP that it feels like playing with cheats currently. the fact they wanna push this to live in 2 weeks already and have maybe 1 update left on experimental is mind boogleing.

plus the removeall of armor platins from heavy armor. well. what are you gonna put into these 4 modslots now? oh right. POCKET MODS. as that is all you can really put now aside 1 bandolier on the chest and a custom fitting. which in turn defeats all point in chest armors which grant extra slots which dumbs choice down for that slot aswell just like the glove one.

where is the balance patch?

the annoying quest still exist,, i ve been doing it for 5 years!

Before I never cared about clothing and armor. Now the bonuses makes me care and I can switch them for their bonuses.

Which makes you wonder why are those mechanics still in the game. Might as well remove that too right? . . .

Enchanted armor is 1970 D&D.

In computergames we have had them since the first RPGs saw the light in the 1980s.

On the other hand games with a functional clothing system, that ties into the gameplay are still few and far between in 2024.

I dare to ask, which involved party here refuses itself to innovation.
