Random Bloodmoon frequency - that would be so good
Not a fixed number of days or with a X days of range but a completely random bloodmoon hordenight.
minimum 1 off-day and no more than 2 in a row

So if you have Freq 7 Range 0, You will have a horde every 7th day 100% of the time.
If you have Freq 7 Range 14, You will at minimum have a blood moon after 7 days, but potentially after as many as 21 days.
If you have a Freq 1 Range 21, Then you potentially could have a horde every day, Or it could take as many as 21 days; Statistically averaging somewhere around the middle.

Functionally, Option 2 essentially meets your request; Although you further define a minimum of 1 off day, so a frequency of 2 would be your goal, which is easily achieved with a small modlet that adds 2 to the list of options.

How is the "range" setting is not a "random" modifier for a bloodmoon to happen?

Yes, I believe that range setting is the random. If you hover over it, the description sure makes it seem so, at least. :)

that setting exists already for longer than I can remember

Now... wait. There's a 20 days limit on a Blood moon range. How does it work? I set default 7 days for Frequency, so every 7 days there's a 100% chance for a Blood Moon to Happen.

20 days range:
If I got a blood moon on day 2. This means it went from day 7, day 14, or day 21 roight? So, I still have two blood moon nights to come for that time period, which might also happen in a row.

So, with a scenario when 3 blood night occurred in a row, in theory, I might later have something like two and a half blood moon free holiday weeks? Wait, but there's also day 28, which might occur from day 8...

Wo-o-o-ow, dude, math is a real science...

Edit: was writing this at the same time as Shurenai, who gave an answer.

I get what youre saying however I probably didnt explain myself clearly enough

I would like a hordenight totally random without knowing range/days etc
When you start a new game it'll just say "random nights" nothing more, nothing less. You are totally in the dark as to when a hordenight will start

Well, the thing is that Blood Moon Night starts at 10 PM at Night (Ha-ha) You also get that thunder SFX and visuals just before it. So, not sure about "totally in the dark as to when" thing.

The Range IS the ramdomizer here. The only one. It gives you exactly what you describe - blood nights will become random and you won't exactly know when those will happen.

Try Frequency default 7 and set Range on 20. This will probably be the best experience for you.

Yeah there is no setting that's truly random, even with [Frequency = 1, Range = 14] (a weekly bloodmoon on average), if you're on day 13 with no Horde previously, then you know what day tomorrow is. That's super unlikely to happen though. I'd recommend trying this setting out and see exactly why it isn't achieving what you'd like to experience (we already know it's not mathematically the same, but try to pin down what matters). Maybe adjust the Bloon Moon warning to be evenings (6pm instead of 8am) if you'd like less time to prepare a defence. When I tried with similar settings, I knew when the first Bloon Moons were pretty accurately, but once I forgot which night they had happened last things felt random enough. If you play with others on a server, then as soon as you miss a Blood Moon, it's very hard to tell when the next will be.
