Lockpicks need a buff
For one they are almost non existent, and you can have them break one after the other like 1-2 seconds apart and I have the first lock picking upgrade with that. They should not be so rare and still break like they are nothing, I spent 6 lock picks on just 1 reinforced chest and it still didn't open...

The good thing is that they are really easy to craft once you reach workstation 15. Wrenching cars gets plenty of mechanical parts to make a full stack of 50 picks.
Until you can craft them, lockpicking is more of a disappointment. Haha

It is annoying to have them break like 6-8 times. Especially when the timer runs between each break:)

There is a candy you can eat that buffs lock picking.

My record for breaking picks on a lock is 19, but usually 7 gets any lock open. Considering they only take a forged iron and a mechanical part to make, and they're craftable pretty early (earlier than I'd recommend using them -- start using them when your loot stage is 50+ and even then you might not find stuff worth the effort), I'm not sure there's much of a problem with them.

@Brevan... Wow, I know I never hit 19. I would DEFINITELY remember that.

I just use impact or auger.

Can you break open locks by "destroying" the locked box? I think that used to be possible in one of the earlier builds... idk if it still is.

lock picks are so bad that if they instantly opened anything then broke they still wouldnt be overpowered. Right now they are usable until you get an iron pickaxe

Yeah, you're right. You can just break them open if you want to.

No, they don't. The lock picking system needs an overhaul. There's nothing inherently wrong with the lock picks themselves.

A rework more like.
Make them work like in Dying Light or anything other than what we have now..

Mods have done this exact thing and allowed you to use them to open any locked door, making them unlocked like you had placed them. devs do not care much to incorporate great community ideas, otherwise such low hanging fruits would not have gone ignored

The way lockpicks work in fallout is way better, they could use that as a base to make it better. You shouldnt have a lockpick break after half a second.

There are several overhaul mods that have Fallout-style lock picking including Fallout-themed mod called The Wasteland (not available for 1.0 yet), it's superior to vanilla lock picking in any possible way.

They are useless anyway once you get decent block damage going.

I find them useless after you get the iron and especially steel axe. I wish stuff was harder to break into, that's what needs revamped IMO.
