Motorcycle is really a jump forward in speed. For me it's the last vehicle that I feel I really "need" in a playthrough (no problems with the handling for me). Especially with the ridiculous sensitivity and noise of the 4x4. Gyrocopter is fun but comes way too late in the game for my tastes.
It's still better than running halfway across the map plus they have storage space so I can have extended loot runs.
Get a mod to increase the speed if it is really that big of an issue.
It is mostly just a storage space increase from the bicycle.
I do like the motorcycle a bit and once I can make one, will carry it around. But I almost never use it even for just traveling. *shrug*
That said, I usually skip it and go straight to the motorcycle.
I just tested the 20% boots with steroids and the energy drink that gives the 50% speed boost and it is blazingly fast.
I just ran 1.4 km to a POI and it was pretty quick. Haha
That said on long journeys across an area where I've already recently explored so there's nothing much to loot/scavenge/open, I may "get on the bike and ride."
And yeah, 20% boots with the ... megacrush I think it is? ... is pretty insane.
Both the motorcycle and the 4x4 have a speed of 14m/sec, and the gyrocopter is 15m/sec.
That said, it is really easy to change the speeds. Just be careful, because I speak from experience when I say a motorcycle with a speed of 40 instead of 14 will crash into everything.
Of course I'm not sure what "better offroad handling" would mean, because as far as I know the game treats grass, snow, rubble, and pavement the same...
