For now I think I will just make a macro for auto-walk.
Erm many games allow you to autowalk and also sprint with a stam cost, what are you talking about. Its a basic feature that any open world style game should have by default, and there is no valid reason why it does not exist in the game at all. Just assign it to its own hotkey like every other game that has it does.
The devs have stoped caring what players want once a17 was in devolopment, its why the game is in the sorry state it is, they stoped listening. I am aware it has good player numbers, but the ONLY reason newer players think vanilla is any good is because they never played it back in a16.4 which was early the highest point the game has had for vanilla, and its just been going downhill since.
The gameplay in 7dtd has not changed since a17 to now, its been the exact same for lke 5-6 years now with no real changes or content added either. New poi's are nice and all but its not what the game needs. It needs a mid and late game, as currently all vanilla has is a easly game and even then its a poor thought out one.
Thankfully the game is highly modable, so you can actually have fun and get content and get mid/endgame stuff via mods, as the devs don't seem intersted in adding it at all. They are more concerned with re-hashing the same game systems over and over instead of doing something actually new. The game hasn't gone anywhere after a16.4, its just gotten worse and worse.
Glad to see you here promoting your game.
😆
Or just do what most games do, and make it have its own hotkey, as I said there is literally no valid reason why the game lacks this feature, its been asked for forever at this point and they just keep refusing to do it for whatever stupid reason they have. At least we have a toggle sprint now in a22, if you just tap sprint it'll keep sprinting till you stop moving or hit the button again, works for turbo on vehicles as well. Its one of the only changes I really like in a22 was that they added that, its an actually useful feature for once that adds to the game in a positive way, which is something very rare from TFP. Now if only they would give us an auto walk to use with it, would be great especially for vehicle travel. The vehicles unmodded move so damn slow that its really easy to avoid obsticles.
I did get myself a mod that increases vehicle base speed by 50%, while also keeping the turbo speed bonus inline with vanilla. bicycle is 6 base 8.5 turbo in vanilla, in my mod its 9 base 11.5 turbo, keeping the 2.5 turbo speed bonus the same. Well its not my mod, I basically edited the values in someone elses to be more inline with the speed bonuses turbo gives as in his base mod it was kinda silly. Its a pretty mnassive quality of life and I really wish TFP would speed all the vehicles up, especially if they are planning to make us go 2+ KM into other biomes. The game does not support a nomadic playstyle, as there is no way to have a mobile base etc.
Oh well, guess what? There IS a mod for that!. It adds a camper van, that you can instal a forge, chem lab, cement mixer campfire etc into and use them while on the move, it also has 240 slots of storage. Its not fast though, but its a true mobile base, its something a22 really needs to support the playstyle they trying to get you to play, that or vehicles just need to be made faster.
The worst part of this game is the start when you have to run everywhere 500+ meters away. Engaging gameplay. I guess it is literally engaging since you're glueed to the W key.
I don't want a mod or script. I want a vanilla toggle.
Joking aside though - auto walk should be a thing in just about every open world game. No reason not to.
