Git gud
Dysentery doesn't do very much (-3 Food and -8 Water when the Icon gurgles, it gurgles about once every 10% while curing itself). It's not fatal even at 100% (it can't go beyond this), and doesn't seem to affect Stamina at all. Just like Weather conditions (too hot/cold), it might have been debilitating in some earlier alpha, but it's pretty much just a scary icon nowadays.

Since Jars were removed in A21, the only recipe for Snow is Yucca Smoothie (which only requires Yucca BlueBerries Snow and Patience), but you could still throw a snowball to distract Zombies (just like Stones).

Wow, yeah, I didn't notice that they removed the snow recipe to make it into murky water. What the heck are they doing to this game? Utter nonsense.
I googled for a tutorial video on early game survival, but they are all for A19 or older.

Someone should get to work on that.

I never, ever, waste points on that "perk." Not worth it.
I think the water and food system in 1.0 is a huge step back compared to previous alphas.

During alphas you got your glass or can back when you ate or drank everything out of it. Now glasses and cans are just gone.

Who the ♥♥♥♥ thought that this is an improvement to the previous versions? I never ran out of something to drink, now it´s like every other survival game where you can be glad when you have 10 glasses of drinkable stuff during the first couple of days.

I think the only reason for this is to force the players to spend more time in the crafting process which is just a huge drawback. I don´t like the release version of 7DTD.

As it's been stated for the past 18 months or so, that's the point. Thirst has never been a problem in 7D2D.

But no worries. They nerfed the dew collectors so much that I have to dedicate a chest to fluids before the Day 14 horde. Which is fine. Duck tape usage is up in 1.0, so I need the water.

I really don't bother with trader quests on Day 1 anymore. Just the buried treasure quest to get it off the table, and a few Dukes.
It's much more efficient to go old school looting door-to-door at houses and POIs than it is to run back and forth, back and forth to the trader. And if I don't find a pot, I'll sell loot to Rekt before he closes so I can boil water. 4 duct tape, 4 pipes, and 100 polymer is easy on Day 1.

There are foods and meds that dehydrate you. That can play in significantly

I wish I could watch people play to see how they run out of food. You can literally just eat fat off the ground to keep hunger away. Lol
I'll eat anything if I need to, fat, old sandwiches. They work just fine, aside from the dysentery chance from the sandwiches.
Probably, they are not looting everything in the POIs. I usually do 2-3 quests a day when I start a new game, and just doing that, I get a ton of water and food.

I think a big problem comes from people watching YouTubers who rush through POIs, and they learn from them to value 20 lead ore and toss out water and food.

Yes, I see YouTubers all the time throw out valuable stuff for 20 pieces of lead ore.

in my 1200 + hours of playing, i never felt the need for that perk ever. even with my play style of 2 perks per lvl i still dont get it.

getting first aide is sooooo easy.
i wasnt complaining i said i liked it this way before it was super easy now its kinda hard and the zombies are way more then before like 3 months ago i like the whole set up and i like how there is a ♥♥♥♥ ton of armor now before you had 3 choices
I imagine some people just run non stop and use stamina always which effects. It's not a hard game but I've also noticed in alpha22 that it does drop quicker in general but still not an issue with raiding kitchens and boiling water.
Collect eggs from nests, but also collect as much chrysanthemum, cotton and goldenrod as you can as well. These plants sell to the trader for quite a bit. Just 50 of each is enough to make the cash needed to feed yourself for a day or two and the things are everywhere. Sell your early game brass too, possibly polymers if you’re finding a lot as both also sell high and aside from the polymer needed for dew collectors, neither is all that valuable early game. Smack every tire and plastic floor trash you see and you’ll have more than enough to make dew collectors and have leftover to sell.
Are you new to the game by chance? If not it's incredibly easy to get food and water...

Any player having trouble keeping up with thirst and water should ...

correction: buy a cooking pot from the trader on the first day (if not looted yet), and not sprint, jump, or engage every single enemy they find.

And also stop chasing chickens and rabbits.
Either shoot them with a ranged weapon, a bow if you're good enough (needs practice), or only attack one that's stuck near a fence/wall.
