How to get water?
Dumb question but I'm new to version 1.0. You used to be able to take an empty container to a river/ lake and fill it up - I can't seem to do that now (no empty containers). I know that I have to purify the water but just getting it is my issue.

Thanks for any help.

They want you to craft a dew collector for the main source. (Just type Dew Collector in crafting window) Then of course - vending machines, traders, and loot.
if only you searched water in the forum and found the answer..

Edit: oooooh scary a clown... But who is the clown really🤔

You can craft a dew collector that gives murky water by time and loot POIs, toilets, coffee makers, soda fountains etc give a lot more murky water now. You can get mods for dew collector from traders that makes it gather more, faster and filters it to clean water.

Thank you sir.

As for the gentleman that suggested searching first you have a valid point, that is usually what I will do. As it turns out it worked out fine.

Find or buy a pot and you're set

either dew collector as others have said or buy a pot from a trader and boil murky water

No more containers, but you can eat glass jars after cooking those with a cooking pot. You can also drink from a pool and take a risk of getting ill, but can save you char sometimes (and if you find a vitamin pill, save it and you can use it to drink all you the dirty water you want, even eat old sham sandwiches if you need to but take care of your health as eating old sandwiches wil hurt you)

I would say that at the start, the best you can do is to save trader's money from quests and all you can gather and use that money to buy a cooking pot (not so easy as before to find a cooking pot at the first days)

This really depends on map. If you play on Navezgane it can be a bit harder, but on random generated maps with residential POIs etc near starting spot/trader both cooking pot and grill are pretty easy to find.

Well, i have been playing the test buld since they released it to the public and starting a new game with almost each new beta, and i never found a cooking pot before the day 3 or 4 at least (on random worlds and doing quests non-stop since the first day ofc) I didn't try to get into random houses to loot the kitchen, but any other kitchen i have seen from quests...no cooking pots. Maybe just bad luck, but on previous alphas i usually found a pot at the first day even just doing quests, probably at the first house with a kitchen.

In any case, imo a cooking pot is the most important survival item to get asap to avoid depending on random loot (and to always have enough stamina to run if needed!)

Like said, depends on map. I have never NOT found a cooking pot by day 2, usually have grill and pot by first night.

It's been mentioned that you can drink from any water in the world (select empty tool belt slot and face the water, "Press E to Drink" will appear), and that you can use Vitamins (or the water filter mod in a helmet) to resist getting Dysentery. Keep in mind that Dysentery doesn't really do anything (-3 Food and -8 Water when the icon gurgles), it cures itself, and is never fatal (cap is 100%, which does nothing). Drinking murky water hurts you, but food and meds heal you.
