Playing offline single player.
It is not PvP game.

The people that bother with multiplayer play with their own specific friends, not randos. At it's core, this is a singleplayer oriented game, which is why bandits are the most requested feature as well.

No. They have those claim blocks that people associate with older survival pvp games but realistically they're just there because coding them back out and replacing them with a better system wouldve been a pain in the ass.

Game is almost entirely PvE, even though PvP is "technically" available

No, it's building and pve survival.
The vast majority of the content for this game is building a base to survive blood moon hordes.

If you want pvp zombies, try the modded Rust servers with zombies.

1.0 isn't going to save your mom's disappointment in you. But the game is playable, enjoyable, if one allows having a good time.

I am not sure if it still an issue but I remember this game had severe issues on multiplayer server when I tried playing a little on multiplayer. (it was one of the easiest games to dupe in, but this was years ago so not sure if they fixed it)

It is also basically just a single player / coop game. PVP is possible but not great and big servers makes zombies very laggy so you really only want 1 team if you play on a server to not have too much lag.

rust and 7 days having a baby would be nice. 7 days seems like it did try to go a rust direction but the devs cant optimize it like the rust devs can. but they're also limited by the engine which performs poorly with alot of entities without ECS/DOTs.

trying to find servers without admins using magic powers (admins who play you while you try to play the game)
trying to find servers that dont wipe and restart after you have invested some time cus the admin is not the highest lvl "player" or they lose interest.
trying to find servers that arent creative servers with mods that break game. so alot of people end up behind passwords or playing solo.. i spent a few thousand hours solo before i started playing public.
further from vanilla settings you get.. more the game is broken. tho some settings are nice if you don't have much time to invest (boosted exp and drops)
biggest drawback to this (public)game is there are no official (pimp) servers where there are no admins to cheat.

wtf did you expect? For people to just casually run a fully open server, that is heavy on hardware, for free, with zero interest of their own YET be interested enough to administrate it regularly to keep away trolls/actually be bothered to restore the world after it got raided by trolls?

If you need such servers - seek private ones that are created for people who are friends with the admin. Private/hidden servers have a perk of not having to deal with random, bored trolls. Without that, you might as well just cuff yourself to the server, 24/7.
