Not being able to sleep is stupid
Hi,

There's many aspects of realism in this game, but you can't sleep.
You can be ill by eating bad food or drinking bad water and whatever, but you can't rest, refill energy by sleeping a few hours... Like the character just can't sleep lol.
I don't enjoy exploring or searching for things during the night, I'd like to pass it by sleeping.
Could you add it as an option at least?? Like a lot of things are optional already. You can even disable zombies. the red moon and all, which is the main feature of the game. You can litterally change the whole purpose of the game but yet you can't sleep.

It's probably not that easy to code in a sleep mechanic into a game like this with horde systems, random spawns and blood nights. Just think about how it could possibly work? Think of some other games that have similar mechanics. Do you really want to go to sleep for 10 times a night due to zeds spawning all around you, or the game telling that you can't sleep due to zeds around? Or do you want to get killed, and get your base destroyed while you're sleeping? Or maybe you want the game to just avoid any random spawns, hordes and blood nights with a sleep mechanic?

How should it be?

Nothing about this game is realistic. You can't sleep because there isn't a point to do so. Why? There is no penalty for not doing so. Can't see? Turn up brightness until you can get a flashlight mod for your gun or a headlight mod for your armor piece.

i mean seriously? its a multiplayer game. In valheim if you want to sleep you can if you solo play but if its multiplayer it goes to a vote basically. Everyone would have to agree to do so. And being 7d2d has on some servers up to 60 people many would not be cool with "sleeping thru the night" being you have to be ready for a horde. You talk about it as a stupid lack of feature but really its a stupid question on your part

You can sleep. And you can let time pass while you sleep. Leave your game running and go to bed. problem solved.

How how how? How did other devs add that in their game? It exists, even on multiplayer, like Minecraft.
In my game, I disabled red moon nights. It still have zombies but not much.
I play alone. An option with specific conditions at least would be possible.

Still no point in a sleeping mechanic where there isn't a penalty of some sort for not sleeping. Again, turn up your brightness in the settings if you are having that many problems seeing. Doesn't matter if you have blood moons turned off. There is still no reason to want to sleep the night because you can't handle the dark.

You could exit save, turn settings for day length to shortest, enter save, watch the night pass quickly, exit save, set day length settings back to where you want, enter save.

I know that is not "roleplaying", but I mean if you're mostly not going to do much at night but "wait around" and be annoyed from the waiting around, why not.

I think if you're in debug mode if you hit ESC there's a slider to speed up day-passing time, so you wouldn't have to exit save first. Just don't use the slider to change what day/go back in time, messing with that one can cause problems I hear.

As the upper post suggests, you can change game day/night cycles, if dont like night, just change to 24 hours day, and wont have a night ever more, remember if you do that, no bloodmoons in your server too.

unless you have an afk base.. sleep in this game you wake up dead. I don't mind how the game is set up ie always awake. some games you sleep to heal.. this game you find items to heal or you suicide to heal (up to lvl 6 but not lvl 6 just die to refresh hunger thirst and cure all your wounds and max health (depending on server settings you might have to die a few times to get back to perfect health) the only drawback is embarrassing amount of deaths.. i use up to lvl 6 to save up bandages.. food and water.. and just die to heal eat drink etc.. then when you start paying a horrific cost for dying.. i start using those bandages water food etc.. (level 6+)

Not only Valheim. Enshrouded, Minecraft, and Sunkenland are games that I've played recently that allow you to sleep. I can understand why a large 7 Days to Die would not have that function, or would disable it if the game had one, but if you are solo or playing with a small group of players who are all working together they could make good use of a sleep system. It's something TFP could have added but they've been ripping out most of the actual survival elements and dumbing down the ones they haven't been strait up removing so I doubt they would ever add sleeping - and especially not a requirement to sleep.

Realism isn't really a strong point of this game.

And nights are designed to be more dangerous than days by default settings.

IMO, sleeping would bypass the danger of being attacked by running zombies while you're in a precarious situation, like in a random POI or in the wilds. I don't think it fits with the dev's vision.

Modders will probably make this available for solo if you need it.
Something like this old mod : https://community.7daystodie.com/topic/4017-a15-working-beds-and-sleep/

Can you people stop asking devs to make their games be more realistic? Can you just go outside, have some cruel world experience and then come back home to play a fun video game?
creepy Jul 25, 2024 @ 3:59am
Sleeping is not only as vital as eating and drinking but also a valuable feature to anyone who like to roleplay their game. Which survivor will try to take the maximum risk ? Only a maximum fool. Or a gamer who only want fun and not roleplaying, of course. So the only reason there is no sleeping feature in a "survival" game is because the devs don't care about roleplaying.

It's like finding jars of water in toilet or reading books to learn how to cook an egg : this a game for happy killing zombies and happy building anything any way, without the slightest notion of realism nor survival. A simplistic game for simplistic fun...

If you are dying for roleplaying so so much; Just stand on your bedroll and pretend your character is asleep until it's bright out again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
