Ii am glad they changed it. Hope more people appreciate it.
TFP clearly want to appeal to a younger/ console crowd, expect more Twitch stuff and less complex survival RPG systems but they have been decent enough to allow the game to be altered, for old farts like me that enjoy making clothes from duct tape and string and wearing mismatched apocalypse fashion I found in a bin.
Reverting to Alpha 21 is not really an answer because that would miss all graphical and optimisation updates. We don't want the game to look bad, we just want some clothing in a survival game, that is not too much to ask. Luckily we can both be happy.
Bland bland bland, what is to miss? now the stuff we wear looks way better and they come with buffs..
The new stuff looks like something a comic book superhero would wear. I do like the look of some of the new kits the models are great, the artists did a good job, but that is not post apocalyptic survival in the real world, it is silly.
Knowing TFP it really makes you wonder if they know that theres 4 quarters in a year not 2. Full wardrobe system, a full system, that could be out anywhere from 2 months (Oct 1) to 5 months from now? LIke - real deal released out?
This company moves at a glacial pace... I saw the roadmap too and after 11 years without one I'm surprised they added one for no particular reason this late in the game. That of course came in tandem with switching systems right before release, right before 1.0, completely nullifying the whole "everything is a placeholder for a later thing" moniker the mods have callously slapped onto every rebuttal anyone's ever had around here too.
Now they just look crazy.
Nost just that this would make all the work they put in the new system worthless but it would be also something like a "yeah, new system is just objectivly bad" statement.
The old system felt always a bit 1990s for me, unnecessary redundancies, clipping issues, and all in all it was bloated with little to no impact on the actualy gameplay. The visuals were never important on any voxel game. That's a technical and design limit you accept by creating/playing a voxel game.
The new system feels more rpg styled for me, expecting a few balance patches i'm fine with it.
Atleast we have modders like Khaine and Jax that can bring things back that gets deleted, it seems tfp all of a sudden only cares about console.
I can't tell if youre serious or not. Where was the roadmap for the entire time its been on steam? That's 10+ years now.
However, they certainly did have a roadmap (I can find references to it, just not the actual roadmap) - it just may not have been in it's current form.
(And hopefully then survival aspects will be a real threat, instead of a trivial afterthought.)
