I feel its about time vehicles get a speed increase, maybe 50%?
What do you think? with the static "random" gen maps that aren't random anymore due to limits placed on what can spawn in what biome etc, players often have to make a 2 km ish journey to the next trader, the vehicles if i have to be honest are way to slow in their current state, I feel they could use a 50% speed increase across the board just to help with the travel times, as pediling a bike for 2km for 5+ minutes with NO auto run/walk is just annoying and tedious. I mean v1.0 is the tedium update where nothing was really added other than making everything more tedious and bogged down.

I also like how I hit tier 3 quests by doing them for rekt as I got sick of the 2.5 km slow as hell bicycle ride to jen in the burnt forest, but he won't give me the next trader quest, I assume I am going to have to ride my bike for 2.5 km to see Jen just to pick this quest up, then ride lord knows how long to get to that trader. Most likely a 3-4 KM ride on my 8k map here. Sorry, but this is not fun or entertaining at all. The fact you have to hold W down the entire time is also annoying, the game really needs a autowalk/run key already.
Also before you say "Well mod it" as TFP uses as a excuse to not have to improve vanilla. The whole point of why I am saying this, is because I am trying to make vanilla more fun. As the current game basically needs to be modded heavily to actually be any fun anymore. Never had this problem in a16.4, its really started in a17 and up. 7dtd used to be one of my fave games and I would be excited for each update (I've had the game since a10.2), btu since a17 my excitement has just be dropping due to the game being made unfun and having game systems/features removed, I basically didn't even care about a22/v1.0 because I knew it really has nothing new other than some prettier sparkles and that they were making it more of a slog/tedious.

New players are prob fine with the game, and thats because they never played the game back when it was actually good back in a16.4, so they don't know any better as what they are playing today is all they know. Pretty much anyone who was around when a16.4 came out will tell you that was the best skill system the game ever had, and some of the msot fun the game was. Before you go on about "well crafting relied on action skill" That was in a15, it was fixed in a16 and decoupled from action skills.

How do you feel on this vehicle issue? I feel its been a long time coming and if the devs insist on locking only one trader type to each biome something needs to be done to make travel better/faster especially with how tiny the inventory is for the player.

It wont happen. Something about chunk loading and the lowest common denominator gamer not having a powerful enough io to handle faster chunk loading.

You can use mods to increase vehicle speed, and it then comes with a tonne of problems, even in single player the LOD system is just not good enough to go any faster.

The world wont load under your feet in time, until they have a more intelligent LOD system that only loads whats directly in front of you, instead of trying to load to entire world around you, we will not be able to go faster until there is something much faster SSD's.

Yep... Theres a visual performance setting that explicitly highlights performance impact of chunk loading. If I set the percentage too high it literally stutters every two seconds to load chunks in the 4x4.

I dunno, I play a mod that has a vehicle that moves at 40 meters per second, and my pc which is far from top of the line keeps up fairly well. Only usual issue is sudden tree's poping in front of me at max speed. My pc is mid end at best. Even at 40 m/s I never get studdering or least its noticable if I do. A low end system could easly handle 20-25 m/s move speed I feel. It mostly depends on if the game is on a SSD or not. Motorcycle with a 50% boost would hit about 20-21 m/s which should be in the range for the min spec.

That and people just need to upgrade their rig, or lower settings in game. You shouldn't expect 6-10 year old or more hardware to run modern games well. I mean unless you get like a 4080/4090, that thing is prob easly going to be good for well over the next 10 years. I have a Geforce RTX 3060 Ti myself, should last me at least 5-6 years if not more if i am willing to lower some settings in games.

Well some people need to upgrade there stuff. The game will always be there till they do. But yeah they are right, the game is a unoptimized POS, and thats why its performance is so bad. I've played other voxel games and they don't have the problems 7dtd does, so its mainly a issue with the games code/optimization. I'll honestly be shocked if the consoles manage to maintain 30 fps tbh.

I've experienced both sides of it. I had gtx970 when I first started playing this game a long time ago, and some garbage ?i5? processor from 2013, and it was rough. Even on the first iteration of the vehicles I'd outpace the ground loading in and fall through it.

Now I have 13k processor, 4090, ddr5 ram, and even after speeding up the gyro in the XML i still can't outpace anything.

I'm sure they could make them much faster but then they'd be playable for you, me, a few hundred others, and thats about it.

Having nice hardware is a luxury and whether youve earned it, fallen into it, or a combination of both doesnt matter. Point is most people dont have it. Need, want, or otherwise.

There is a run/walk toggle, just tap W.

I'm not sure if this was added recently as I haven't played for a couple of years, but I discovered it after starting a new V1 playthrough, helps a lot. I used to pretty much get RSI and cramps from holding down W before...

Your old rig when you first started playing is basically what I had. I5 cpu and I upgraded from a gtx 560, to a gtx 1070, about a year or ago or less I upgraded the 1070 to a Geforce RTX 3060 Ti, as it was a noticable upgrade, not too badly priced, and should let me play modern games for the next 5+ years at 1080p. Cpu I have now is a Ryzen 7 3700x. Just save up money and you can upgrade in time. The main problem is usually motherboard/power supply. I'd have upgraded to a better videocard, but I needed something that would work with the power supply I already had as I didn't have the funds to buy both. So the 3060 Ti is what I decided on.

Get the hell out of here is there? I know there is a sprint toggle by just tapping the key, but this is new. Would be nice if stuff like this was mentioned in the patch notes.

Also keep multiplayer in mind and vehicle mods. The speeds are probably not just an arbitrary value. Developer should have figured out max vehicle speed that works good in multiplayer, cut some speed for potential speed mods, and call that max speed.

40 m/s dirt bike in darkness falls works fine with the super charger (20 m/s without it), and DFalls has 100+ custom poi's. I use it in multiplayer with a expanded seating mod so me and my friend can share the same vehicle to save on gas. I also do not have a top of the line pc, my pc is low-mid end at best by todays standards and it can keep up LOD wise with me going 40 m/s.

Get rid of vehicles, completely. Work to make allegiances with factions to use their trade routes.

Neither of these “tapping the key” work for me. You sure this isn’t some custom macro or something? Maybe I need to dig through my keybinds again…..
