If you raise the difficulty, you also need another proper armor for fighting first.
At that point I had my first iron tools.
Brass and plastics do sell pretty good though. They are a pretty effective way to help pay for a crucible, chemistry station etc.
its very easy to get armor mags to 100 rather fast since thier dropchance is boosted by just raiseing your attribute which anyone must do in order to get better weapons afterall.
its not unnormal to have max armor books in week 2 in 1.0. this is assumeing standard loot settings of course. if you lower or raise loot values from default you will either be faster or take longer.
you dont use the scav set for fighting at all. and the funny fact if you can just wrech yourself some exp you dont really need to do many quests to begin with. that is what the tc is on about. and you only really do fighting during poi clear quests. otherwise you can avoid fighting in most cases or only have to deal with a few zombies here and there. and all you need for fighting is preacher gloves anyway. rest doesnt really boost your dmg to begin with.
and since wrechning cars and ♥♥♥♥ gives so much exp on top of all the sellable ♥♥♥♥ you also level quite quickly doing this. you dont lose out on exp at all doing this. you get MORE dukes than trough questing.
now of course this doesnt work until you find or craft a wrench.
as a funny side fact : if you manage to find a wrench day 1-2 or are able to craft one you can get the materials for a biycle faster than you can complete 10 tier quests assumeing default quest settings. sadly the acid and the 10 forge ahead books can prevent this. so the quests are probaly still a good choice to be done atleast for tier 1 to have a vehicle day 4.
now buying from traders is still pretty nerfed aside crucible.
this is stupid effective if youre a perception spear guy like me since you can use salvage ops to get this going faster even sooner to great effect.
but if you put just 1 point into daring adventurer (does not require any int investment) you will be able to buy cemet mixers and crucibles from bob within the frist 7 days. and thanks to the tons of money you have made scrapping you will actually be able to buy these. with some armor pieces they become even cheaper than ever before. you will still take awhile to get a chem station probaly tough. if you get lucky you dont even need the perk. its just helpful if you want it.
as speed collecting forge ahead books now requires a specific approach by the player to work like before they nerfed the lockpicking book bonus for it in 1 of the experiemental updates the above might now be a faster method to getting workstations done. aside chem station that one is a bit of a pain still. but its also not needed early game to begin with.
also salvage ops and scav set combined will make you swim in steel by just scrapping aswell overtime.
just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beware of DOG HORDES on insane while scrapping.....had one nearly end my run 2 weeks ago while i was testing this.
note : you only need the head and the gloves from scav set for this. the rest is not worth going for. the head is for a silly exp boost and the gloves is effectively 1.5 extra levels of salvage ops at tier 6. 1 level at tier 5.
then wear ranger/enforcer head with xp mod (if you have it) when selling and buying. plus candy and potion if you got any. last 2 are only useful when buying like a crucible.
go to next trader and sell there. same as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. doesnt prevent anything.
traders already have the restriction that they will only buy 3 stacks of 1 item type per reset in case you didnt know.
you can also just mine stone and sell that. but only 3 stacks.
but scrapping gives you a bunch of items. and brass radiators and engines and batteries sell for quiete alot. and since they dumbed vehicle batteries down you only need a bad one for them.
its just clever use of game mechanics basically. nothing new. due to the trader nerf overall this doesnt break the game. its just another method to play.
its not like you can buy everything from the trader even with 50k. ♥♥♥♥♥ too expensive. and what they offer is limited aswell.
i tested this myself during experimental earlier. its quiete a interresting approach to game progression with the new set it just got better.
still gotta loot. cars are not infinite in a town. so gotta do quests to reset pois.
when i did my no quests allowed run in a21 i scrapped street lights for steel with salvage ops until i got a crucible. was supriseingly effective.
