I mean lets be real its been ages since the game got anything actually new. Gameplay wise the game has gone basically no where other than downhill since a17. Steel has been top tier for as long as I can remember and I been here since alpha 10.2, same for radiated zombies, been top tier for like 7-8 years. They need higher tier stuff, as there is no mid/late game in 7dtd currently there is only a early game.
This is why people say the vanilla game is bad, and that you basically HAVE to mod it to actually have fun in the game, as the vanilla game just lacks too much. Was smart of tfp to put in all these progression gates so it'll take newer players longer before they realize the game has no mid game and beyond.
As for the magical appearing zombie, yeah.. that mechanic is annoying, basically other than sleepers, zombies won't spawn in view of the player, its coded like this on purpose, instead if your in the open they will spawn behind or to the side of you where you cannot see them, sometimes so close they can basically hug you. They will also spawn around other sides of poi's if its blocking the players view. You don't notice this issue TOO badly in vanilla, but if you play a mod with higher wilderness zombie spawns it becomes VERY noticable. As for some reason these zombies when they spawn and start going after you they are basically silent, not even footsteps are heard until after they smack you.
Yeah 7dtd used to be my fave game back in a16.4, and its still up there on the top 10 list AS LONG AS ITS MODDED, without mods just vanilla? yeah its not even in top 30-40. Vanilla just lacks to much of things that should have been put in a long time ago.
Wait what Harley quinn randomly behind a bin?
I mostly play 4 main overhauls or 5 rather depends on my mood as each feels different.
Darkness Falls - this is my fave overall, pretty well made, has a ton of new features, 4-6 new enemy tiers, 2-3 new weapon tiers and a extra tool tier or 2, armor too. Also has an actual storyline even if its mainly a place holder it functions for now. It handles difficulty way diff than vanilla does. Zombies don't do extra damage to the player unless your on insane. However, on warrior and up they take less damage from non-headshots, so it rewards good aim. on warrior its 25%, on Survalist they take 50% less on non-headshots and on insane? 75% less. Also has a Poi Expansion Pack that has a ton of curated new poi's it adds to the game, some are even from older alphas, but most are custom creations by the community.
Undead Legacy - Another Overhaul I like, it basically redoes progression entirly including redoing the inventory system, vehicles and more. Current version doesn't have many custom enemys to fight but in the future there is plans to add more, it also has a ton of extra guns. Progression is slower than v1.0 in general, but the main diff is it feels more natural and doesn't feel artifically forced like vanilla does. Also has a learn by doing system to give bonuses to weapon/guns/tools you use.
Apocalypse Now - Simmlar to darkness falls, modified vanilla skill system, LOTS of new enemies and weapons. Do you like explosions? because yeah, this mod has lots of those. The mod gets crazy at mid game, pretty fun time.
Age of Oblivion - Skill system is modified vanilla, with a new skill tab you raise via doing story quests and such to unlock new things. Has bosses, legendary weapons, a storyline, custom poi's/enemies and more. You can even resurrect zombies to turn into obediant guards, or clone humans to make your own personal army. Ai is not the best though but it works ok enough.
Joke Mod - This mod is just fun, its basically vanilla+ with a ton of new zombies and wacky things like animals for mounts, a "handgun" which literally uses your hand to fire nails, and other joke weapons like toilet plungers for a club etc. Also has its share of custom weaponry and armor. Top end building material is Gore Steel, you get the gore from harvesting zombie corpses.
None of these are updated to v1.0 yet, they are all mostly waiting for stable to drop and even then it'll take time as TFP tends to rewrite a good part of the game every alpha which is a nightmare for mod creators to deal with.
I mean 1 power attack even on day 1 usually kills a vulture on warrior, it has a 2-2.2 block reach as well, So you can hit the vultures long before they get in range to melee you. Even more so if your using spears.
She turns up in a couple of overhauls I think she might be part of a girls raider pack. The voice lines are very loud, and quite odd, and she always appears in strange places and makes me jump. She is completely out of place but also hilarious. I think she is in WarezUK All In One. That is great if you like being attacked by a thirty foot titan on day 3, and I love the blunderbuss.
I have not tried Darkness Falls yet I am waiting for stable that looks really good.
You can play the a21 version for now, and I'd reccomend you do so, as v1.0 ver of DF is over a month+ away. DF has a learning curve, you have to throw alot of what you know from vanilla in the garbage can as it doesn't apply in DF, this includes base designs. Its almost like a entrely new game. Rifles are buffed in it, they zoom in faster with perks, and also have same sneak attack modifer that archery does, with a perk in one of the classes to increase headshot damage even more, and even a rare legendary mod to boost headshot damage even further. Rifles with a silencer are a great sneak attack weapon later game, you even get free entity penetration just via action skill and it works with ANY ammo type. Turned a garbage weapon type in vanilla to one of the top tiers in the mod. Still semi useless later game when the REAL big enemies start coming out, you need shotguns or automatics for those.
Crossbow reloads much faster and later game you can make a mod to give it a 5 round magazine, Bows can also have a magazine size of 3 based on the level in the perk you have. Imagine it as you bascally become legaolas and can rapid fire 3 arrows without a visual reload. Archery also gains more headshot damage based on action skill levels, 50% at 21, 100% at 41, 150% at 61 and at 81 its 200%, this makes it viable for most of the game as a sneak attack option.
I can clear high tier POIS with a pistol and automatic weapon, explosives are a liability indoors but I enjoy fighting a giant cop or two with explosive crossbow bolts and landmines. This game needs bosses, and more flying enemies. The best fight I ever had was a giant spider jumping across skyscraper roofs that was tense.
My main problem with 1.0 is I hate the clothing and armour system, now weather is pointless so will use any overhaul that reverts that. I want a proper open world apocalypse sandbox, not Left 4 Dead 3.
heh DF has a high level version of the exploding bolts/and arrows. Called Pulse Bolts/Arrows. Also has grenades too that are over double as strong as vanilla ones late game, rockets too.
Once you get demonic enemies showing up they have a insane hp regen, you need either laser tier weapons or a legendary weapon to kill their regen, there is a tier above that called empowered demonic, which basically without laser weapons or a legendary weapon you have no chance to kill them. EXP is in the enemy a bit in DF, on warrior u can expect full radiated zombies by day 6-7 thankfully right now anyway they have way less hp than vanilla ones do. Enemy tiers go like this
Decaying normal, normal, decaying radiated, feral, radiated feral, tough, demonic, empowered demonic, then you have the boss tier demons and behemoths.
It really isn't even harder. More tedious? Sure, but not harder
This is it right here, its the problem with 1.0, the game is not harder, its just been made exponentallty more tedious. its why many people called 1.0 the tedium update, since thats really all it did was make the game more tedious and not add anything really of value. Even the zombies have inflated HP numbers so the time to kill is slower. Melee is basically completly worthless in vanilla when poi's are mostly ferals. Doesn't do enough damage at all. I mean vs a single feral melee is fine, but vs several? yeah no, not gonna happen in v1.0. Not unless you use stun baton+nerd tats cheese.
So the perceived progress is actually moving sideways, as everything just scales the same value.
Which means you play the same game as vanilla, just with new skins.
Don't get me wrong. I have played DF and it is kind of fun.
But the idea of having progress, by just adding tiers and counter-tiers is a quite flawed idea of "progress" in the first place IMHO.
Personally infection has never been an issue for two reasons: Honey is extremely easy to obtain (imo) and you can always suicide to die it off unless playing some sort of hardcore mode where your death is permanent.
Just because youre bad at the game doesnt mean its a bad game.
If I took infection serious, never backed up my save, or didn't mod the game, then I wouldn't play it.
Again, not relevant. It had nothing to do with what I said. Red herring would like a talk with you.
