Quest progression synchronization for Multiplayer.
NOTE! This is really only applicable to Multiplayer games so if you're playing single player this is probably a waste of your time. Unless you're just bored and/or curious . . . then read on!

I'm assuming several other groups of people in multiplayer have ran into, or WILL run into this same issue, hopefully this information can help others out.

I tried to keep this as short as possible without excluding any relevant information . . . SORRY for the WALL of TEXT!

We ran into an issue where we realized our quest progression was not identical as we were finishing up quests with Bob to get to 60 / 100. Prior to this, before the quest progression sharing was re-enabled (while we were at Rekt & Jen), we just did one quest each every time so that we'd stay on the same page with our quest progression. Basically doing double quests, which we didn't like and were both glad they reverted that change.

When we were about to leave Bob and head to Hugh with the quest "Opening Trade Routes" we noticed that I was the only one that was offered the quest. We then both checked our quest progression and I was 60/100 and my wife was only at 36 / 100. So what happened was when quest progression was re-enabled in b317 (or b316 not sure) we went back to only myself picking up quests (which were then automatically shared in PARTY. "Allies" is not required for this which is where we got messed up with our Quest progression). We completed those quests and continued on without keeping an eye on the quest progression.

This is the part that may help others. When she would join my party she would only click on 'Party' and not 'Allies'. So you can be in the party and receive the quest which intuitively would make most think that would be enough to receive credit for quest progression but that was not the case. You WILL NOT receive credit for the quest UNLESS you have Allies also checked! We tested this out after the fact with a Tier 3 buried supplies quest.

GET ON WITH IT!

OK. So now we were in a position where we wanted to be on the same level of quest progression since we did all of those quests together but didn't want to do a bunch of extra quests to get her back up to 60 / 100. Here's what we did to fix that issue that may be helpful to other players if the same thing happens to you.

The Host of the game can give 'Dev quest tickets' to the other player, which is normally only used for developer testing. To be fair to ourselves we discarded all of the quest reward items and only gained credit for the quest progression until we were both 60/100. She did accumulate some additional character XP but that wasn't game breaking for us.

If you run into the same issue and want to re-synchronize your progression you can do this by:

  • opening the console > hit F1 > type 'cm' for creative mode. (it will read "creativemenu on") (repeat this step at the end to turn the creative mode OFF)
  • close console > hit F1
  • hit tab to open your inventory > click on the light bulb at the top right for the creative menu.
  • at the top left there is a highlight / toggle icon for 'Dev Blocks' (the toggle icon looks like stereo speakers) > toggle / highlight this ON
  • in the search box type "quest"

You will see some "Quest Ticket" items. Drag or shift click the appropriate number of these into your inventory and give these to the other party members that require them.

T1 will yield 1 progression point, T2 will yield 2 progression points and so on. You should be able to turn these in at any trader. Before you turn these in make sure that you are NOT listed as an Ally to another player in order to individually increase your progression and leave their progression values untouched. (unless you WANT theirs to also go up, then make sure you're listed as Allies - We didn't test this exact part but I'm assuming that's how it will work)

This will allow you to synchronize your party quest progression if you have run into the same issue without having to do a bunch of additional unwanted quests if you already completed them but did not receive credit for quest progression.
