I agree that there's no ingame point in anything other than plain water.
In COOP MP, if you don't want to need a ton of collectors, mineral water is awesome. It reduces water intake by over 60% and let you make that much glue, duct tape and repair kits with a set amount of collectors.
Also, even in solo, if you like to go for long many days trip in the wasteland or desert, a stack of mineral will cover your needs while a stack of water may not.
Ofc, someone not doing any of those may find simple water enough for his play style. As for me, I prefer red tea for solo short trip needs as not only they have better water stat but they also reduce the depletion rate of the food bar.
I ate so much dog-food the first few weeks I almost turned into a Golden Retriever.... I still have ten cans and don't bother to save it as I just eat it (and cat food) when I find it for inventory management purposes.
Not at all. You get a 60 thirst reduction (3x that of water). You also get +20% on dysentery and 6 minutes of efficient digestion. That's quite beneficial when you're playing a big world and go on long trips away from your main base as you explore. I keep 10 food and 10 mineral water in my motorcycle (and truck and if I got around to building it, a gyrocopter) for that very reason.
You could also go the route of finding a water filter mod for your helmet and then grabbing a bucket to place water in a hollowed out tile for a source of infinite hydration.
The only time I see myself actually using consumables for water is when I need to make up for all of the Steroids I have used or during a Bloodmoon: that's it!
