How am I meant to get water? I can't craft a cooking pot until i find magazines.
I know i can just let myself die, but i need to get water for this annoyingly slow stamina regen.

I need a cooking pot to boil water.

i need advanced engineering 5 to craft a forge.

Workstation points can only be gotten from RNG magazines.

Is it expected for me to just keep dying until i find the correct books?

You can find cooking pots around. Usually in kitchens.

This game has settings for play from easy to difficult. There are two ways to get a pot to boil water. One, loot for one. Two, find magazines to craft a forge and make a pot. The game isn't going to just give a pot because you aren't learning how to survive in a zombie-voxel game.

So many threads on this....do a search on the topic for alot of suggestions but here are some.

Get dukes (quests/looting/selling stuff to trader) and buy it in vending machines at traders.

Find a cooking pot in a house, restaurant, foodstand or also buy one at the trader.

Avoid fighting as much as possible, this drains stats quickly.

While youre out looting for things to sell, check every mailbox, trashpile, dumpster...everything for mags. Before you know it you can make goldenrod tea (only need 5 cooking mags I think) so pick all the yellow flowers you can while walking around.

Just need one forge ahead mag to craft collectors (3 murky water each per day).

Need a campfire and a cooking pot to boil those murky water bottles (as previously said, can be found, bought or crafted).

Finally, perks like Advanced engineering never unlock any crafting, one or more perks into them will just increase your chances to find the related magazines you need to learn to craft.

Or run a couple quest and buy drinks from the vending machine to hold you over. That is what i've had to start doing. Though I've found that most times, within the first 4-6 quest, one of the houses I'm sent too has had a pot

seems real rare.

I'm playing on the hand crafted map in a town near the starter spawn and i checked all the houses here and didn't find a cooking pot.

I have discovered i can take vitamins and just down murky water without dysentery being a risk though, and there are plenty of medical cupboards and piles that tend to have some, that will keep me going until i get a cooking pot.

Still seems odd to have such a core resource be locked behind a rare spawn and kinda late in tech trees to craft yourself.

If you select an open slot on your tool belt (i.e. use empty hands) and face open water (river, pond, pool) for a few seconds, then the "Press E to Drink" message will appear. Just like drinking Murky Water you'll lose 5HP, gain 10 Water, and there's a chance of Dysentery. Dysentery doesn't do much (lose 3 Food and 8 Water when the icon gurgles) and cures itself. Having zero Water isn't fatal, but you won't be able to regen Stamina at all. You would still be able to loot, shoot, walk, and hide.

Empty hands on water sources is great, thanks.
Combined with using vitamins and the water tower near where i setup base this solves the issue of water.

I don't really like the idea of having perpetual dysentery lol, i guess only needing to eat and drink more isn't the end of the world but meh, i would rather avoid it.

You can buy a pot from a shopkeeper for 600 coins, not really hard to get 600 coins either.

Restaurant and anyplace with stoves has a chance to have a pot.

Since cooking pots were already covered (trader/kitchen loot) -
One word: Toilets! :)

You should raid diners or cafes too they tend too have food and drinks and on occasions cooking pots

Remember when you could take a jar, go to a lake, and fill the jar with... water? Pepperidge farm remembers...
baldurs365 Jul 19, 2024 @ 5:40am
yeah but you had to make the jars in the first place then find water source dew makers are on auto once you setup them up constant water supply on your doorstep
baldurs365 Jul 19, 2024 @ 5:43am
i only ever but two of the three mods for the dew makers then boil the water in cooking pot i am not paying 6 k to make it pure water when i can boil it myself lol. i usually place 3 or 4 max of these dew makers 24 water a time ir more than enough for drinks and glue
