I only eat meat, eggs, and cheese. I think we need cheese. I think 7d2d should take another 11 years to make and move it to Wisconsin; the home of cheese and AD&D.

You mean 5 bags of rice, right? 5 grains would be much too generous.

If you have no issues with modding your game, Darkness Falls offers rice, along with a couple of recipes. You can also grow it.

I'll bite. What connection are you making between the two? That growing rice in Arizona is what caused the zombie pandemic in the world of 7DTD? It wasn't the corn?
No, that reality doesn't matter in the slightest with regards to what should or shouldn't be in the game.

We're playing a game with the walking dead, mysteriously resetting buildings and a magic blood moon.

We are way past making references to what is or isn't in the real world.

There are people seriously discussing growing conditions of rice in the context of a world with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ zombies. The whole world is an absurd fantasy, so why not rice in Arizona as well?

That's a valid point, but on the other hand some people like some degree of internal consistency (or an explanation for the lack of internal consistency) in their games. Even if the game is an absurd fantasy.

I get that, but if we were going for consistency we couldn't grow most crops in the snow or desert biome. Drawing the line at rice when we can grow potatoes and corn in the snow, or without sunlight in a nuked out wasteland, seems arbitrary.

I agree. I think it should be more consistent. Certain plants in certain biomes. Probably nothing in the wasteland biome. If it was possible for plants to grow there, they would be growing there already. Nature reclaims land pretty quickly.

Come to think of it, the burnt forest biome should have extensive small plant growth already.

Farming out of biome plants should require some sort of artificial setup at least. But that would require making the farming game mechanics more complex, which would be work that detracts from making the game prettier and simplifying everything as much as possible. Especially for a marginal game mechanic like farming, which is optional and a suboptimal use of skill points (since you need LotL to at least L2 to make it sustainable).

Just play Rice Paddy Simulator 2024. No need to add that mechanic to 7D2D.

Oh snap, I thought you meant like a 4-Cylinder import like a Honda or something.

I like this idea. So we can make rice cakes, rice balls, rice noodles, and just bowls of rice too. Maybe some Lo Mai Gai too, which is sticky rice with chicken inside bamboo leaves. Very yummy. Always eat with soy sauce. Ooh also add preserved duck egg or laap churng. SO GOOD!

That might be a bit too much for 7DTD tho.

Hmm, I wonder if there is an anime overhaul mod for the game. Then I can drink bubble tea and shoot zombies with giant heads.

TFP do not want extra needless items. There is enough food in the game and potatoes is already in the game which is a starch based food item. All the extra items you might want is for modded playthroughs. If you only want to play vanilla you are playing the devs version of the game.
