Whats with all the stupid birds?
Who would win, a 4x4 turbo charged jeep or a flock of 6 rotting bird carcasses, cause this game thinks it's the stupid birds! Dumb things take me from 45mph to a stall

Average response to people who point out how actually terrible the bird mechanics are.

I replaced the birds with more challenging zombies. Dont like the idea of being swarmed by winged nightmares. Rather have demolition zombies spawn on top of roofs than having birds that soar the skies.

The hornets at least were goofy and left honey for you once you killed them. But the vultures are just bullies that nobody needs.

Just one edit away, replace all vultures inside the spawning text file and tada.

Roof vulchers have really never been the problem. (For me.) They were originally well placed, terrifying at times to deal with. Made dealing with ledges and large open roofs tense at times when surrounded by zeds.

But that they homing missile in while traveling in a vehicle, where they would otherwise ignore you, even outside of bloodmoon, is dumb.

I ducking hate birds.

They are a bit much for sure. I'd be fine if they were implemented the way they are for horde night just to reduce the chance of people completely ignoring the mechanic, but in every day situations they're just a bit over the top.

I also see why it could be an annoyance for anyone that enjoyed playing chase on horde night instead of building a base. It's not my personal playstyle, but maybe making it optional would have been better.

Ba Ba Bird Bird Bird ...Bird is a .........

They do need to add a new flying zombie something to game maybe less frequent or in wasteland only, I mean something that seems strong and fast enough to do all the crap the vultures are able to do.

Also I wish Pimps would add just one anique zombie to each biome

Using the vultures as an anti vehicle nuisance is kind of a lazy move on their part, them being attracted to a loud motorcycle or car/truck I get, but they even go psycho on a simple bicycle. those rotten featherbrains should take damage over time when going that fast or end up grounded after X time cause their decayed feathers fell out while zooming after you like that

Aren`t vultures exciting? lol They keep me on my toes. Am I ever prepared for them? NEVER. That`s what makes them exciting, for me. Hell if it gets too easy, what`s the use playing yeah. With so many options, so many settings, so many mods, This game is exactly what "the player" makes it. just sayin. I realize folks don`t always be dissing the game, agreeing the dang things are troublesome no matter how you slice it lol. I for one would, miss them. Cheers

I recommend the gyro copter. Only threat is on departure and landing, otherwise en route they chase you and get bumped by the main rotor, causing them to fall back far enough to lose track of you. Fly above the threat, they can't see you as well.

Oh, bring a drone when you fly. Sometimes it can bump the drone behind you, causing yet another delay as you further the distance between you and the dumb fowl.

EDIT: .... Learn how to fly. If you can't beat them, join them.

You ever tried that during a high level horde?

It has something I have been meaning to test, but never got around to it, since I never use the Gyro.

Who would win a Cop zombie or a 4x4. I am not sure I understand the comment, other than to complain about a zombie someone doesn't like. Frankly the vultures are a decent threat. I'd prefer if the vehicles created heat and attracted zombies rather than force me off my bike, or let me swing while on the bike. Pretty sure that would make it more fun, more like mount n blade. I get a kick knowing those birds out of the park. A crossbow easily takes them out before they attack in POIs. I would also be happy if the gyrocopter blades diced them up. I have been more annoyed when a small tree stops by 4x4. Cement blocks etc. Before the vultures people would complain all the time about the zombie dogs. They need more variation of AI mechanics, not less.

Ach... take out yer flaming steel battle axe or flaming steel hammer and give em a good smack and see if ur good enough to get a home run. Then have a pint afterwards. [#]3

Yes a 4x4 truck should win

I'm afraid you would have to define a "high level horde". My comment is about just regular bird avoidance on the copter.

The reason the copter can outrun the bird is mostly the delay the bird has when repositioning itself behind me for an attack. With a turbo mod on the copter and without using turbo boost the speed is 17 m/s. Every few seconds the bird stops and positions itself and that takes about half a second, equates to about 8 m/s speed advantage, and the bird can only see for 70 meters, and after about 8 to 10 seconds the bird lost track of me and slows down to search my last position and I'm way out beyond it's detection at that point.

A land vehicle would probably need a drag strip of flat terrain or something that's about 200 meters long and straight to get away or play "ring-around-a-building" for a few moments to confound the darn thing then make a run for it.

EDIT: ... I think the 4x4 should be excluded from bird attacks simply because the player is technically inside and hidden when compared to the other vehicles.

EDIT: ... Correction, vulture sight range is 70 not 30. So, 8 to 10 seconds before it loses sight of me.
