GD Bullet Sponge Zombies!!!
The bullet proof, regenerating irradiated zombies render Hand guns, rifles & shotguns a real joke for single players attempting to clear infested buildings in tier V + VI quests! Nothing like emptying an entire clip of 7.62 mm rounds point blank into a zombies face only to have it just keep coming at you, or fall down and get back up 3 or 4 times WTF! This game seems to me to be heavily weighted towards needing to play with others in order to have enough fire power to balance the outcome. Why don't you guys, the developers, take the single player into consideration so weapons are a viable means of defense???:steamfacepalm:

If playing high diff, it's your choice to have sponges. It's by design to make them able to rush you before you take them all out from range. Also, it forces you to use much more ammo adding some challenge to manage your ammo pool by usually crafting some.

With the rad remover mod, they're perfectly ok like any other high hp zed. Without the mod, you'll be wasting way too many ammo to be able to cope on T4-6 missions in end game.

Your experience will vary a lot with perk investment and perk magazines. I'm running an agility build and I've finished out all the relevant magazines and max agility. The SMG is good, but Rad Wights can eat a whole clip if I'm not focused on the head or if I don't do short controlled bursts. The Dultcher on the other hand, even with normal ammo it eats up zombies due to the perk magazines making all the ammo bypass armor and penetrate zombies.

On the other hand if I decide to use my fancy t5 auto shotgun, it hits like a wet fart because I've got no points invested in it, only half of the perk magazines, and 3 strength. It doesn't matter what mods I load it with, I don't have the bonuses to support that weapon so the performance is going to be bad. I still use it sometimes, mainly to get rid of ammo.

And if you turn up the difficulty at all, zombies get a whole lot more tanky. It takes a while to mentally adjust, but harder fights can be fun.

Try aiming for the head for the first time, it'll do wonders.

I'm single player and played warrior and then increased to insane on my last long playthrough. The autoshotgun is OP. It quickly takes down any enemies even on insane difficulty if you go for headshots. I honestly have an easy time on insane with the autoshotgun. (No mods whatsoever. Not even little convenient ones)

Even rad bikers only take 4 headshots on insane (just tested on about 10 rad bikers before posting this, it can be less if you roll the decap percent, or more if you are off on 1 shot, but 4 is a tested average). And before complaining that's too much, remember I was testing on insane, and that's one of the toughest zombies in the game. The lower difficulties will be much easier. And other enemies like normal lumberjacks go down in 1 shot, and ferals in two.

And this. It's only a couple of HP / sec. (haven't checked exact number in 1.0). So it's not like they regen to full in between trigger pulls. :) It takes them a full minute or so to recoup from a shotgun headshot last I checked.

Sorry but how do you not at least have an AK, smg, or tactile assault rifle if you're at T5 and 6? Unless theres some crazy quick way to clear quests I'm unaware of. Im using smg and tactile assault rifles on Insane and they aren't really bullet sponges IMO. Gotta perk into the weapons ur using to increase damage. You should def have better weapons by the time you're at T5 and T6..

I've never had a problem once I am above Pipe weapons in dealing with zombies. Some its more critical you try for headshots, but even radiated zombies fall down go boom with a headshot from a shotty. Might take two, but ammo is cheap, keep squeezin the trigger.

go for int, then you can have 2 turrets for added firepower.
clearing out T5 and T6 on insane is no problem if you know how to use the turrets well.

RAD remover MOD + AP Ammo = win

It's surprising how much people who have played this game know of this and the armor mods. I boggles the mind.

Zombie are Sponges 100% it's a feature not a bug and I love hear from the players that bring up some the inconsistencies that are still in this game and the player that say it work for me and recommend a mod to help to kill radiated zombies.
JErosion 26 AGO 2024 a las 10:04 p. m.
also dont sleep on the perpetrator perk. it can take the edge off zombie armor levels

After skimming the thread, and just to be sure we are on the same page:

Mod in the meaning of weapon-mod, the items you find in game and install on your weapons.

Not mod in the meaning of game-modification, that alters mechanics.
Grumpy Old Gamer 27 AGO 2024 a las 4:11 a. m.
T6 9mm + headshots will one shot most zombies except irradiated big momma, irradiated tourist, irradiated demolition, irradiated cops, lumberjacks, Boaris, direwolves. But Yo crackheads and other trash mobs dont stand a chance.....
Grumpy Old Guy 27 AGO 2024 a las 9:06 a. m.
Use AP bullets and aim for the head. Really it's not that hard even on insane they die pretty fast to headshots.

For context sake I just killed an irradiated zombie on insane on a playthrough on day 4 with a tier 1 pipe machine gun and regular bullets with no investment in the machineguns skill at all.

If I can do that you can absolutely wreck them with proper perks, AP ammo, and a real gun.

Also I mean you turn the difficulty up and then complain about it being hard is definitely a decision.
