Although for experienced players, it's true that some people like playing navezgane just because they know exactly where everything is when they start on day1, which makes a playthrough faster and easier.
That said, I feel like the replay value on Navezgane isn’t very strong. To each their own though.
Progression in a RWG map will be faster because there are more POIs, and more duplicate POIs, and they are closer together.
For example, in Navezgane there is only one Crack A Book store and one Crack A Book cafe. Those are great places to find magazines and books, which you need to increase crafting.
My last random map had 14 Crack A Book POIs, and 4 Crack A Book cafes. You could max out every crafting skill in the game just by visiting them. In Navezgane that isn't an option so progression can be slower, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Random maps can also have more than 5 traders. I had a map with 20. That effectively gives you more chances to buy good loot if that is your thing, but it can get easy too quickly of you overdo it.
Navezgane can be rough for a new player, but at the same time, depending on your map, a random world can be way too easy. I've been trying to find a good balance for years and I had found it in A21, then 1.0 came along and made all my maps obsolete.
The layout and also the POI are not just random set but allow a bit more structure in the gameplay and learning. Same for the placement of the trader and pretty much every poi is unique and not 10 times available seperated over a huge map.
Random gen is something for additional playtrough, with additional POI (Note that some POI are only in random generated maps and some are only available in navezgane), and also the possibilites you have with the map generator and additional tweaks are interesting.
I agree that the progression is defintly slower at navezgane but i won't say that makes the map harder at all. That's something good for new player as you have more time to learn the basics and get the right feeling for 7d2d stuff.
Then there's the more limited selection of POIs. "I don't know that POI, I'll explore it" is part of the fun for me. Navezgane will have some of that for a new player, but a random gen will have a lot more of it.
Navezgane is an old story map for a story that doesn't exist yet.
