What mods to put in clothing-armour?
I have Q6 apparel. Nerd hat, preacher gloves, nomad outfit, nomad boots.

Nerd hat has a cigar, an XP/loot stage/treasure map AI unit, a helmet lamp and custom fittings. OK there.

Outfit has bandolier and custom fittings and a triple pocket mod.

Gloves have banded plate.

Boots have impact bracers and custom fittings.

I can't think of anything else that will fit and is of any use. The heavy armour can't have plates fitted. Insulation is irrelevant as it's never hot or cold now. The outfit gives +10 carrying, so pocket mods are of very limited use.

Military Stealth Boots mod (requires book), Advanced Muffler mods (reducing noise is key to night time fighting in the Wasteland -- with an Silencer on your weapon you can sometimes put something down without calling in more from outside).

I tried the stealth boots mod. It seems to do absolutely nothing. It says it reduces the noise and mobility penalties of medium and heavy armour, but the character stats screen shows no change. Not to mobility, definitely. I didn't pay much attention to noise because I don't fire guns in the wasteland at night anyway and don't use stealth anywhere after the very early game. Heavy armour, big club that's on fire, a pair of machineguns with as many bullets as possible. That's my preferred playstyle. Which does make the wasteland at night a dangerous choice. If I can't handle everything with melee, my only plan B is running away.

You can't go wrong with customised fittings on all parts, whatever is your playstyle/build.
More stamina regen is more stamina regen. :) And mobility too. I see you already have three, but maybe to add a forth one? Other than that, not much options that i can remember.

I forgot.. I did not know they restricted platings for heavy armor. That changes things quite a bit when it comes to choosing armor and makes heavy armor not so desirable for me. Ofc there is always a bonus effect that you may want to have, but from the protection standpoint only that makes heavy armor almost inferior to the medium armor, given it's heavy penalties for only modest gain in damage reduction.

Preacher gloves are light armour and can't have a customised fitting mod. But the enchantment on them is better than the enchantment on any of the heavy gloves IMO.

I might change the outfit to a +resist one and put pocket mods on the pieces instead. I could probably get +10 carry from that, replacing the +10 carry from the nomad outfit.

This is the first game in which I've been short of cloth other than the first few days making cloth armour in previous alphas. Day 29 and I'm out of cloth. That's despite wrenching beds as I pass through POIs. If I could remember where I'd seen a savage country shop I'd go there. Or maybe farm cotton. Cloth and leather are the new gold in A22/1.0. Especially as I don't hunt animals.

Yeah, i noticed that too! The thing is, duct tape requires 7 cloth fragments. I can't remeber how many it required before. So, making glue is not a problem, you can have enough bones even if you do not hunt. Same thing with water, 2 or 3 dew collectors is more than enough.
But cloth is a problem. Make 30 duct tapes and bam: you just burned 210 fragments. And that 30 duct tapes will go in no time.

Couple that with armor crafting and yeah.. I started to grow cotton plants, since i can't make myself just run through fields punching cotton plants for hours. :)

I loot murky water as I pass through POIs. I raid a lot of POIs because they're there and all the POIS and everything in all the POIs belongs to my inner loot goblin :) I currently have 86 murky water cooking on my water cooking campfire. Plus 56 coffees in my food box from the last batch.

Also, since the dew collector changed in this alpha I made one. I always play with new stuff in new alphas. Stuck all the mods in it and I get 6 clean water over and over again, pretty quickly.

I've never been short of water in this alpha, even though I've been crafting gallons of glue to make miles of duct tape to make all the things.

The only game in which I've been short of water at any time was when I played Navezgane in A21 with the goal of properly renovating, upgrading and decorating the first POI I stayed in my first ever game of 7DTD (Alistair's cabin). I use a helmet filter mod in that game, which I was lucky enough to find after a few days.

I have ~30K dukes and the only things I'd want to buy are solar cells. Which are rarer than friendly birds, so I'm sure I'll have enough dukes for them when I see them in a trader's place. I'd rather have the added protection of heavy armour and the increased XP gain. If I need more dukes, I'll kill more zombies and loot more stuff to sell.
