And there are chickens and rabbit literally everywhere, but if you want to wait and see if that improves before "spending more money on the game".. whatever that means, you do you..
My own experience using it, there are quite a few times in an area where there's not animals, but moving further ahead and there's like 2 or 4 (of which you can't see because they're either far or something, like grass, is obstructing your vision).
Anyway, I know 1pt in the early game is a big deal, but if you can't find animals and your strategy relies on animals, it's probably worth spending that 1pt on Animal Tracker. Save yourself the time and frustration.
I'm currently on day 25. I didn't leave the forest biome for the first couple of weeks and then only for brief trips because I like living in the forest biome and I like Rekt.
I haven't hunted any animals. I've only killed animals that attacked me. Except maybe 1 or 2 chickens and rabbits, probably by running over the ones that insist on sprinting under your wheels. Most of the few rabbits I've seen in the forest biome were hidden by foliage until they moved.
I have >100 spare meat. The only food I've cooked has been bacon and eggs, a couple of dozen portions. The rest has been food from loot and a couple of portions of food from trader payments when I didn't want any of the other options. I haven't even eaten anything from my farm yet. The farm has been mostly to do the challenges, though I'll probably set it up for veg stew and coffee. I've got 50 coffees boiling at the moment while I'm out and about.
Water has been mostly from looting, although in this playthrough I made a dew collector because it's different. I like to play with new things in each alpha. I bought all the mods for it from Rekt, so I get 6 purified water pretty often. That would probably be more than enough to cover my drinking water needs by itself.
The animal hoarder's house (the one with "Dog Pig Snek Man" painted on it) alone will get you meat for days from the aggro animals guaranteed to spawn in it.
I agree. Although I prefer to not use a strategy that relies on hunting animals, 1 point into a core skill for a chosen strategy seems like a very good idea to me.
As stated in my post I wonder if it's a RNG issue. With over 2500 hours in the game I have done everything obvious to look for water and pots. Multiple POI's. I do not recall the last time I bought a pot.
No, it works fine. There are inaccuracy penalties built into weapons. It's not that you've 'gotten good' as you've progressed, it's the game has cut down the deviation of your shots. Simply put, the more primitive and lower-tier the weapon, the less accurate and the less damage.
There are chickens and rabbits everywhere. Especially on or near roads that are out of town. Deer are routinely hanging out near the edges of the town. Boars are easy to find in burnt forests.
Pots are routinely found in the small houses. Trader quests will give them to you as rewards or you'll get enough Dukes to buy one quite quickly.
What bug? Sure, stopped playing around Alpha 17 and only just came back. But when I looked for the bug with Google, only your post came back. Goldenrod tea is the early-game solution.
My guess is that "bug" in that context is referring to the germs that cause dysentry.
Whenever I read "dysentry" now I think of Rekt. "Smells like...dysentry".
Take out your bow and ready an arrow. See the crosshair in the middle? The cone is pretty big. Now walk around: the cone will get slightly bigger. Now hold right click and zoom. The cone will get much smaller. If you're using a bow, you need to stand still for a second and zoom for the best accuracy.
Look through your skills, and put a point into animal tracking. Now you'll locate any nearby rabbit/chicken when crouching.
I highly doubt you have 2500 hours if you're being defeated by very basic issues.
I've also ran into a roaming wolf packs in the forest, but that was at around level 30 or so.
Animals are scare now. There are mods to re-add them back to pre-1.0 levels. I found more luck with them in the desert than anywhere else.
Interesting point, I have not used Animal tracker since alpha 18 or 19 I think. believe it was only useful for tracking animals you saw, may look into that thanking you
yup bug=germ. My bad, shouldn't use slang in a world post
Lol, left the 8k pregen and loaded a 10k pregen--not as bad but still a bit left. gave up on animal tracker as it was annoying back in alpha 18. But thanks for your kind advice.
Its even worse when you are in a POI and something does pop up, now you have that on your compass clogging up the UI when you are trying to find those sleepers.
There really needs to be a toggle or separate action for tracking, rather than just always tracking when crouching.
