The Hazmat Zombie
The hazmat zombie is completely sealed from head to toe within his suit, I dont think he should have the ability to infect you, he should only do damage to player and blocks.

I always wondered too, how he got infected in the first place, being sealed in that suit :buzzed:

I do like the new distorted mumbling sound he makes though, from wearing his mask :steamhappy:

Idk, from a gameplay standpoint, it won't change a lot at all, this just seems like a realism based change for a game not designed around realism

Maybe he has bacteria on his hazmat gloves from handling the intestines of his last victim

The hazmat suit is not designed for punching and clawing, that would of torn the gloves. How they go it, you have to take it off on some point to eat drink or whatever.

That's when you find out those filters are not blocking what caused the zombies in the first place.

And it has NEVER been mentioned at any single time that the infection you contract is that "zombie virus" or else why would generic antibiotics or even herbal remedies and honey be able to get rid of it. It's just a common bacterial infection like you can contract every day if you have an open wound and rub ♥♥♥♥ in it.

I wouldn't assume those hazmat suits are actually intact... Figure there are small punctures and tears that the devs just didn't bother to show on the models!

Uh... The hazmat suit zombies have a missing boot and an exposed bloody foot. I'm no scientist, but I'm guessing that's how they got zombified.
I do agree that as a special type they should have a massively reduced infection spread value, though. If only for flavor and variety.

Funnily enough, they actually have a significantly increased chance of causing infection compared to regular zombies. I assume the logic is they've been working with/exposed to some nasty stuff which is on the outside of the suit.

But they aren't a special type, they're just rarer since they're themed and spawn in specific areas. Ultimately changing the infection chance seems like a waste of coding time.

It has already been the case for quite some time... They've had a higher chance of infecting you for a couple alphas.
If that's the case, idk makes sense to me, the virus is metastasising in the suit and becoming more contagious in there, and the hazmat person probably has been handling a lot of hazardous stuff.
Jeez this game really has an information problem, first this and the lack of any information on what on-fire and bleeding does to a zombie?

Well they do damage over time? What else are those debuff supposed to do?

Wikis are supposed to provide intricate and specific information, they don't even tell you what you said, let alone the specifics on damage per interval, how often those intervals are, how long it lasts and etc

Wikis are community driven, so by all means I encourage you to join it and help with the updates!
Or the devs could let this information be a lot more known

This. The infection that you get in game is not of the "zombie maker" type of infection, it is the gangrene type of infection. If you want to make a case for sealed hazmat zombies to carry this at a higher rate, it's not a stretch to propose that dealing with rotting corpses (non-zombie) has coated the suit in a nice film of necrotic bacteria. As mentioned above.
