That would Actually be Cool.
Because while there is Public Servers. You never know if they are Permanent and/or what kind of Rules and Admins they got.
Often You end up on some Clan Server where if You Kill or Destroy something from that Clan You might end up Banned. Or even Private Servers that Randomly Close/Reset or Ban You etc.

Official Servers would be Nice as it would mean the Server will Run a Set amount of Time or even Permanently with no Sudden Resets.
And there would be no Players with Admin Powers that can just Ban You if you are in their Way.

The game is designed for 8-player co-op with friends. Not a 50+ multiplayer MMO.

It is not likely that there will be official servers outside of the ones occasionally made for a week or two of public testing.

EDIT: Besides that, officially servers are typically trash.

What's the point of official servers on such a moddable game? I never understood why Ark has official servers too...

official servers usually attract the attention of cheats/hacks and never have an admin online. I wouldn't play on one.

Said like that it is a good thing then. All the loosers go to those servers instead of going into private open ones.

@Seftak yeah ARK official servers are just ATROCIOUS. mega bases everywhere, almost every cubic inch claimed by a pillar so u cant build, etc. I ALWAYS play unofficial on ARK when I play lmfao. If 7d2d ever got official servers, they'd NEED to have chunk respawning enabled like every day or something because it'd be easy to grief valuable POIs and stuff.

private servers are private for a reason so the trolls cant even get access to them.

also dont invite random people ono your server.

Ye the setting exists but by default it's disabled (chunk respawning, not LCB breaking from inactivity) it's so high tier POIs aren't just leveled and nobody can get to higher tier loot without getting a quest. May not happen that often but it's just a future proofing thing to enable chunk respawning so people can go these pois without it being leveled.

You are aware there are a lot of open servers? All servers are private ones, since there is no officials.

Some people TRY to trust others by letting anyone join their server. I would guess most of those are either owned by kids or people who do not care to have a great experience though...

Privately owned server? Like, all of them?? Open as in non whitelisted or pasword protected.

Yes, i know they are privately owned. I run my own server that stays running 24/7 off of my home server. My point is its not both PRIVATE and OPEN at the same time...its either password protected or not publically listed at all, or listed and non password protected and open for anyone to join. It literally cant be both.
Seftak Jul 7, 2024 @ 10:15am
Do you own the server? Then it is PRIVATE. Else it would be public because it would be managed by the developper itself.

Technically it is still private since it belongs to a company but it's like public lands which belongs to the governement.
