It is a sandbox game ATM as the story needs to be implemented in a year from now.
General rule is that you play until you get bored. When exactly the boredom hits is different from person to person
Me and a friend play the game every update to around day 50-60, then get bored and stop playing.
Well I've been doing all that already, but I just don't really know what to prepare? It just feels like there is no goal really shown to you.
I don't, i probably have around 20K hours in minecraft.
I don't think we can refund, we both got this game like 12 years ago, and just saw some news about the 1.0 and wanted to test it out ^^
There are triple A titles from large studios that bored me to heck within 10 hours after paying for them. it happens.
disclaimer: I think this game is great. As do 88% of reviewers. And I am not trying to drive you away.
Yeah I know that, I'm just asking because I'm only at the beginning of the game, so I may be playing it wrong or lack understanding of it. I don't necessarily "not enjoy" it, but I just don't know if it's gonna be the same go fetch this on and on and on.
Yep, no goal forced on you, except for SURVIVE. How you do it is up to you. 7dtd is easily the most wide open of any "open world" game I've ever played. That's one of the things I love most about it. It sounds like you need a story or campaign to keep you motivated. 7dtd is supposed to have a story, at some later time. Maybe revolving around ultimate escape from infected lands, with the main antagonist The Duke, and his bandits trying to stop you. I could care less about the stories of games, but sounds like you might want to check back at a later time.
It's a sandbox survival game. The goal is whatever you make it. Press Y and \try and complete every challenge, get t5 trader quests, build a castle etc. You tell your own story how you want to.
That being said there is a "optimal" path to speed up progression in my experience. Rush INT first for "daring adventurer" and "better barter" making sure to check every vending machine for "sugar butts" candy. This will speed leveling up dramatically as you will be getting 2 rewards per mission after a while, and selling anything is 1xp per duke earned on 100%xp settings more if 300% etc. When you get to the quest building clear/loot it, then go outside and start the quest it will completely reset the POI so you can clear it and loot is a second time. That means double the XP, double the food, double the ammo, double the mats etc.
Secondly build a set of "Scavenger armor" ASAP. Every time you break something down via salvage or using a tool you get 30% more XP so gut the poi, light fixtures, furniture everything and when you turn in sell half of every stack of mats you are carrying for the XP. On 100% loot, 100% XP at day 5 solo I had 129 days worth of food stored, 2 steel crates full of ammo, 2 more full of medical supplies, a motor cycle, and t3-5 gear across the board.
Lastly take only missions within 1KM of the trader, the closer the better, you can churn more out in a day, once you complete 10 t1 quests you will get a bicycle for free this will speed up moving around and has some storage to help you carry more.
Nope, thats it. As Mr Ohio said above the whole purpose of the game is survival. My issue with that is surviving is trivial except for day 7 14 21 28 and 35 if you arent bored out of your knickers by then. The days in between... they still havent managed to make food and water a problem beyond day 2... you can just stand there doing nothing forever and be unscathed, (as youve noticed in very short time), and the crafting is mostly locked behind a paperboy minigame that has no depth beyond checking mailboxes (you can go in buildings and find them in specific spots too obviously) but you dont need to.
Also like others said, I think you can enjoy the game but its one of the games where you have to make your own adventure. I dont have any other games in my library that I have to cut content from (on my own) to make it fun. I dont believe that burden should be on the player. You'll see comments around here (deadpan serious ones) "just don't use the trader", "just dont buy the good items". The developers have decided that the trader is part of their game and the items are appropriate per their design. People around here will tell you to just not use half the game, rather than putting the onus on the developers to balance it and figure it out.
Youve already bought the game havent you? At least play til day 35ish before you shelve it. Maybe something will pique your interest.
*Edit LOL Ohio, i meant Iowa. I know Im rough around the edges but I never stoop that low.
That’s why I don’t do quests and instead make the game about exploring, leveling up, and building my base.
You can choose to stay in your starter biome, or you can mix grate across the biomes as you level up, ultimately making it to the wasteland.
Much funner that way
that would be far more exciting than this dumpster fire. And their other game, 7 days blood moon, I wouldn't waste my money on that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ether.
