World feels dead
My friend and I have played this game many Alphas. One thing I have really noticed this time, is that the world feels even more dead then normal. I have set Zombie spawn at 80, animal spawn at 80. We are on day 16 and still have not received a wandering horde. Our base has never been attacked once, and we are in the middle of a town, We can walk down the roads in the middle of the night and maybe see 2 zombies. During the day we can travel freely throughout the world and hardly come across any Zombies. The buildings have Zombies in them, but doesn't even seem like there is hardly any in them as well. I have difficulty set to warrior. Even animals seem like there isn't many roaming around.

Does anyone know if they have noticed this also in there worlds or if they know of any changes on the spawning of zombies? We just dont see any other then when we go into a building. It makes the game feel lonely and dead (considering its a zombie game) lol.

yeah the game is becoming more and more boring especially cause the AI is getting dumber and dumber either they take a straight path where the easiest passage is or just go completely braindead xD but yeah the world feels hella dead i remember when the game was pretty new it felt like an actualy zombie apocalypse game zombies here and there now the worlds are hella empty but all that aswell because of the horrible optimization of the game more zombies = tons of fps drops

I was assuming it was because i'm only on day 4. I swear years ago the game was a lot harder, would be zombies walking all over the streets and night time was actually dark. May as well be day light 24/7 now.

Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?

The forest biome spawns have been sparse for several alphas. Although I got wandering hordes quite often both day and night. They tend to target a path about 20m away from you, so you might not ever see them.

The lack of spawns and animals is worst in forest. I think it's meant as the beginner area. The other extreme is wasteland at night where the spawns are non-stop (literally). The lack of animals seems to mainly only be the forest for some reason. Go to the snow biome for example, and you can't throw a stone without hitting a cougar, deer or bear.

Turning on feral sense option can help a little. Although if you want to stay in forest and still have outdoor spawns some modding may be in order.

I thought something weird was going on but didn't know if it was just my game. I'm on day 33 and I get a wandering horde of 8-10 zombies every few days. I've had two dog hordes in 33 days that made a straight shot at my front door even though I was hidden with no light or equipment running. Been running forges and campfire near constantly and haven't seen a single screamer. Going into town though, I get about 2-3 zombies per street block and they're usually feral, spiders, or cops. I've had these higher-difficulty zombies in the pine forest since day 3. Something is definitely weird about the types of zombies, amount of zombies, and difficulty curve for 1.0 so far

I'm not sure the optimization is the reason anymore. I say that because the wasteland at night is non-stop spawns, sometimes faster than you can kill them. And my 7 year old PC handles it at 60fps without dropping. I know because I often loot in the wasteland at night just because it's a guaranteed riot. Fire off a magazine of unsilenced mg in the air, and enjoy the rest of the night.

I think forest biome is sort of empty on purpose, because it's where you spawn in, and spend the first few days of the game with a wood club.

I find deer every day. No points in hunter skill and I have killed several deer, all of them around 3:30 - 4:00 am. Have killed a few coyotes, one mountain lion, and two bears. All those in week one.

in case you didn't know, they destroyed the fun and energy of a zombie game by trading the amount of zombies that wander the world for "more performance"

and apparently people are okay with it... i think it's comical but hey what do i know... am not a "game developer" so my opinion has no validity, LMAO

the only funny thing i find is in the trailer they marketed this new version, there's a shot in the city that is loaded with 50 zombies or so outside... which is essentially "false advertisement"

the only time you really have hordes of zombies chasing you is pretty much blood moon... but that's "at the player" at an attempt to kill them versus an organic world full of zombies and enemies roaming around... that isn't forced by way of "dungeons" and petty triggering orange things you trip

i think 1.0 revive the zombies and animals general i see more than the alpha 21 now they are roaming too on horde with 15-20 zombies so there is something going on no mods or anything just vanilla pure would be cool to see a horde of 100 zombies but maybe on future

and the blood moon is amazing even with setting max 8 zombies they are not 8 zombies at all they just keep coming even more at stage of the game so is impressive

the hell are you guys talking about, I'm on day 47 on 1.0 and have had wandering hordes every 2 or 3 days, and always have animals around my base, is this just a bair or something? hahah

Hmmm... Forest biome is quite calm, at least during the day. The other biomes on the other hand, I see zombies wherever I look, wandering around. Its not horde night levels but seems like more than before. Also bases with the claim block tend to create a dead zone, which can be edited I think, at least in the server config file for dedicated server (I think).
Wasteland is just zombie infested. Oh and the new update I was able to enjoy like 16 zombies per player during horde night, played with a friend, so 32 zombies at all time, and I was experience between 60 to 100 FPS, which is a huge boost! ^^

go to the spawning file and just increase everything. I have a decent amount of zombies in the day and a scary amount during the night, as it should be. Also keep a file ready to overwrite the file in 7 days folder, since updates sometimes undo your changes.

From my experience forest biome was with some zombies going on group 15/20 on the first 10 days that suprised me alot then i see zombies everywhere not many like 30-40 united but i really feel danger if night comes u need to hide desert biome is the GOAT seems harder than the wasteland dont know why since wasteland was harder

I saw a wandering horde my first time playing 1.0. I believe it was Day 2 or 3. If you build a base, try using a few things that generate heat, like multiple candles or torches, or have your campfire and forge going at the same time for a while. They will show up when you least expect it, and they are tough to take down, even with custom settings. Just keep your eyes peeled for dogs and other beast creatures. The zombies will be the least of your worries at that point.

I visited desert biome and the game suddenly felt very alive, you cant travel a full minute without running into something. Forest and Burned Forest just have very few spawns and even fewer animals/zombies to compete for spawns.
