impossible to stay stealth during the blood moon, so....

From my playthrough:
I went with stealth bow.
During horde night I had to switch to Pipe Machine Gun, can't deal damage fast with a bow and hard to aim well with bow during horde night.
I leveled up knife and stealth. Using almost only knife in tier 4 POI and moving through them fast.
Didn't put any skill points into bow and feels like it would have been a waste.

I feel like agility is by far the best skill tree, for me at least.
I think all melee weapons are good, not sure if some are way stronger than others so any tree works for that.
Stealth is good outside horde nights, rarely getting spotted at all except a few forced encounters.
I am currently playing on regular difficulty (I should probably increase), I am 1 shotting most zombies with knife outside of sneaking. I should be 1 shotting most zombies while sneaking on highest difficulty.
Parkour is op. Medium Armor is great. Run and Gun is great.
Basically the entire skill tree outside of bow is great.

Bows have gotten better, but they're still not the best choice for Horde Night. If you want to play with a stealth build, it's better to have something more powerful ready for the 7th day. Bows are great for quiet clearing and hunting, but when zombies come in waves, it's better to have a rifle or a shotgun handy.

If you're one-shotting zombies on regular difficulty, then it's definitely time to increase the difficulty level.

The problem with bows is you have to be extremely accurate to make it work, otherwise you just waste a second reloading for each miss or non-headshot.

Maybe if not all the zombies ran on horde night, it'll have some use, otherwise it needs a lot more fire rate and reload rate to be viable.. or.. a horde base that focuses on using the weapon.. but with that suggestion, you might as well go with a sniper rifle and take your 1 second reload to properly aim your sights.

That's really only Primitive Bow T1-3 or so, sometimes only 1-2 if you don't have accuracy mods attached.

T4-5 ain't so bad and the other Bows are a lot more accurate, especially with accuracy mods attached.

I love bows and use them all the time while looting and running missions. However, horde is NOT the time for bows. I train up at least one other weapon and, this time, it was club since I also had a few points in strength for faster cooking and mining. The ammo situation was deplorable for my 7th day so i designed my base for melee and it worked very well.

The next week I went into Tier 2 and took every infested that came up so ammo got better. I put ZERO points into shotty, though I could have with strength, nothing in pistols, though I could have with agility going up, and nothing in any other ranged but, I'd found a few weapons and used all of those during second horde with zero points in them. It worked.

Now, I will have to, eventually, put some points into something, probably shotty, just to get that extra damage, but, it's possible to survive and thrive without doing so for the early part of the game. The point is to have fun! If you're having fun with your bow and stealth, by all means, use that thing! I do!

Never was poor for the simple fact that you can craft explosive arrows/bolts with Ranger's Guide to Archery Vol. 2 rofl! (though for 1st and 2nd horde nights you may not have found it but if you're diligent and loot book places and do your trader runs you should find it fairly ez.) Them big chunkas of 5000 exps per shots is very satisfying to see hehehe.

Explosive arrows are still good. So yes, bows are a great weapon for horde night. I play mostly agility. Stealth is very powerful even with the triggered events in some POIs and horde night. The Bow is extremely solid.
Did the first horde night with a bow and a club used 150 stone arrows and they almost made it all night the last 30 or so minutes I finished with the club so yes the bow works on horde night at least for day 7 it did:lunar2019coolpig:

Stealth wise..... I do wonder if the legendary Assassin set will work during the bloodmoon since the regular Z's are supposed to stop searching once they loose line of site of the player...

I may have to test this one day & start a new game, give myself a legendary set of it and test it out on a bloodmoon

I agree that, typically, bows are really only useful for sneak attacks; which you can't get on horde nights. However, I'm with UrbanNoodles: explosive arrows are wonderfully effective. If you've ever spent a horde night tossing molotovs, pipe bombs, or contact grenades then you've basically been using a slower, less accurate version of explosive arrows.

And if you haven't tried lobbing explosives into a crowd of zombies, well... I can't tell you how to live, but I can tell if you haven't lived.

I main bow and would never use it for horde night.

Knives and pistols are in the same skill tree. Use knives and pistols.
