otherwise putting 1 point into LOCKPICKING will raise the odds of finding only forge ahead. tinkerer raises the odds of 4 different books compared.
bookstores are generelly a good source but they are tier 2+ and only found in downtown areas.
just take crafting magazine bundles from traders and always BUY forge ahead magazines when you see them at the trader. he resets every 3 days starting day 4.
wearing nerd chestpiece before reading the books adds a chance to gain 2 magazine points instead of just 1. but its only 10% chance for the first tier of the armor.
Then turn it back down when you've at least got your bench.
I know I know, so cheesy. Just saying it's an option.
Any of the construction POIs are great for it. Working Stiff tools are good for it. There are dead end areas I see all the time that have a large hole in the ground where they were laying pipe, those always have a cement mixer you can loot. There are a number of tier 1 and 0 POIs that have workbenches, forges, mixers, and chem stations. Also people underestimate the good stuff you can get from trash, I find books in trash all the time, won't necessarily be that book but it's always worth a look.
