Do we have to "RE-PURCHASE" this game for Full Release?

Title says it all. When I bought this a decade ago, I believe they indicated it would give us full access when it releases. So many posts have been deleted, can't seem to find it. Does anyone know for sure if we have to buy it again?

No. Early Access is a full purchase of a playable game. By purchasing, you gain immediate access to download and play the game in its current form and as it evolves. You keep access to the game, even if the game later moves from Early Access into fully released.

WHY on Earth should you need to rebuy it???
