Does anyone keep playing after they die?
I feel like dying corrupts your save- as in you/'ll never reach you max possible game mode, you'll always have a death counted against you, etc. Am I crazy for deleting a 20 hr save because I died once?

Yes, I keep playing after I die. On day 110 or something, 4 deaths early game. How to play is a personal preferene, no right or wrong.

Yes, Because it doesn't work that way. The time since last death value has an upper limit that you can reach no matter how many times you die; Dying is only a temporary hit to your game and loot stage.

There is no situation where, when you die, you're permanently locked out of that 5gs/ls you lost. You just need to stay alive for a matching number of days it took you to die that first time; In your example, a 20hr save w/ 1hr days, that'd be 20 days.

Further, Player level alone will eventually get you to the max game and loot stage and keep it locked there even if you die.

I wouldn't say crazy, but it's also something I wouldn't do. It's a survival game, dying once in a while is pretty much inevitable, so don't worry about it.

I do the same but for a different reason. I just think playing death means death is more fun and actually adds a bit of jeapardy. I also like the Zombies to walk not run, Romero/walking dead style. It would be too easy if there were no consequences. And losing everything and starting again is a pretty big consequence.

yer i do. but i either need massive loot increase, so you actually get cool stuff fast, or i set it to no punishment upon death (bc my life is just too sort and too stressfull to have to regain everything Everytime something makes me die, be it cat / wife / stuck / personal lacks etc)
^^

mods does a TON. look forward to the workshop, its community and game is already the smoothest ive ever seen for modding and adding them, when workshop is enabled i bet you even your grandma could figure out how to add them ;D

I have about 4500 hrs. Mostly pvp, but as I got older I switched to pve because of reflexes and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ mousepad mostly. Dying is like a game for me, I try not to do it, just like in real life. If I die I usually just go rage mode on gunpowder and make ammo a lot. I dunno fussy I guess.

I play as if hardcore exists for some of the reasons listed above. For me it is more challenging knowing if you die it is over.

I might not be the best to answer because of how cautiously I tend to play but I did keep going after my death. May have helped I died in glorious fashion so I was totally okay with how that went down lol. It doesn't really hurt your long term game, especially if it were to happen fairly early on, but it's also kind of a preference thing realistically. If going with a hardcore or "realistic" approach then nah, the only reason we'd get up again is to join the horde.

not at all if you want to play that way. a lot of us veterans play hardcore 1 death and thats it gameplay. like shurenai said though a death will not interfere with gamestage. that tops off at 300 i believe which 100 deaths wont change, just delay reaching.

also congrats on lasting 20hours before a death. even on baby settings that isnt easy with the way pois work and zombies that pop in.

there is a perma death setting. i use it and cannot play without it anymore.

respawning in this game is broken. death has literally no noteworthy consequences. and its pretty easy even on insane past the first 2 weeks to stay alive and never die to anything. this isnt a hard game at all at its base principle its really simple.

there is some challenge and danger requireing more careful play at high difficulty with perma death but if you can just bulldoze everything with no risk involved a game becomes boring really really quickly to me personally. i never play such games for long.

so i like that you can actually make the game challengeing but keep it fair for the most part.

my first few saves I did. I mean you have to learn the game and resetting when you die won't help. Now i have been doing one life. I'm still mad i fell in the meat grinder once and that stupid pig that climbed the ladder got me by surprise and ended me.

First playthrough ever. I have died 27 times in 140 days. I don't really care because I'm learning all the POIs before bumping up the difficulty. I've already got Day Zombies set to Sprint and I'm gonna try Nightmare since I'm pretty comfortable with Sprinters.

I actually enjoy stealthing so I won't be doing that lol. If I were a loud and proud player, though, I would definitely have that turned on for quicker POI clears.

Nope.

I've deleted 100+ hour saves because of a single death.

Years ago I did a perma-death run, and haven't been able to go back to a multi-death play-style.
