Then you start downloading mods like Darkness Falls, Sorcery Mod, Warzuk, Age of Oblivion, etc. and take your zombie killing to the next level.
We all thought stuff like that would be added to the game by the time it hit v1.0 in two decade's time, but it seems they're ready to release this game as it is right now as the "final" v1.0 so we're not likely to see any of that.
E.g. loot all poi (that's what my "this map is finished" thing is), or survive 50 days, or have at least one lv6 item of everything, or create one base in every biom. Whatever you want is your endgame.
Though i agree some sort of story would be good, probably also a biom you can't enter before endgame (e.g. due to radiation).
I suddenly got an urge to play 7 Days again here. I booted up a server so me and my friends could play. Had fun for a while but quickly ended up in the end game content level. Friends stopped hopping in, I try to hop in and play but it feels pointless and I haven't really gotten to the point I usally get to before I quit.
Granted I play on standard settings with no mods.
Here are a a few things I began to notice during this gameplay.
1. There's too much ammo that you end up having boxes upon boxes full with ammo.
2. tier 6 weapons and gear is too common and once o have a tier 6 weapon or armor. There's no need to get anything else.
3. Zombies scale in difficulty in terms of quests and POI's but wandering zombies does not.
4. There's little defenses needed for a base, making me just live in a trailer with no defenses with little to no need to protect my base.
5. Horde night can be fun BUT it gets very boring after a while and becomes more of a chore than an exciting experience.
6. Looting POI's is the most fun part but at the end I feel like I don't need to go or do anything cause I got so much stuff at base
By saying this I by no means say that the game is bad nor do I say that the devs are bad.
Its a common theme with every game in the similar category. End game usually kinda suck in all survival games imo. When you go from surviving to thriving, most games doesn't give you challenges for that part of the gameplay.
I'm excited for the release of this game and I can't wait to see what they will have added.
One thing I hope they add are small adjustments of the looting system. Perhaps they will be or can add settings for categories of loot. Like how much ammo you will find. Cause I still wanna find a default amount of resources in the world but I want ammo, weapons and tier 6 items to be A LOT less common.
I usually dig a trench, and then another deep trench, line both trenches with spikes. Maybe a turret or two. I have my build memorised, then I build a giant skyscraper. Depends how much iron I can get. But I notice the double trench confuses the screamers, they just stand at the edge and do nothing most of the time. Kudos on the ex-wife, I have like 3, I try not to remember.
Or I do whatever pops into my head. For example, I once built a giant pyramid, painting it as shiny white as I could find (medicine something, back when it was bright white rather than dirty grey) and putting a load of lights at the top with a couple of full solar panels and battery banks just to power all the lights. I did that as an advert for one of the traders. Just roleplay - they were the first trader that character had met. Want a decent trader who trades fair? Go to Trader Bob. His place is right next to the giant brightly lit shiny white pyramid, you can see it miles away.
basically your just playing endless sandbox and story is still getting made Because game at moment is still in um ALPHA Duh. sp till devs add a story to game you can just enjoy um sandbox
and FYI when raft was first getting made it had no story either. also looked alot different from cartoon version we have to day. actually no surprise it was go raft. itch .io game before a studio took over it. it was very much total different game.
as for skill point game is ready easy on insane so dont exactly need more skill points. i would wait till full release and then try and work out what is wrong instead of crying about what isnt in the game. like i dont have people go on forums have something super minor to cry about.
their is enough modes to fill the void. if game to terrible for you. luckily game allows mods unlike alot of other games that dont allow mods or wont give mod support.
Hoping that having an actual story will result in end game goals other than survival.
Like giant fortress to raid, or a super blood moon set off by story events. Maybe having to do a special blood moon at each of the traders place. Maybe something to set up summoning special boss zombies that bring raids like blood moons when you summon them.
It's why the early game keeps getting stretched though IMO.
Longer struggle phase in the early game which makes the mid-gane initially feel more rewarding when you finally have the ability to build the things you want/need to build and every action has a progression purpose.
Then you hit late game and it's like... "OK, now you repair and stockpile for 5 hours then shoot zombies again"
