New UI should be a obligatory thing for 1.0
To the best of my knowledge, the only mention of a UI change is for Q2 2025 in the roadmap. It isn't even listed as a new UI. just a UI/Main Menu overhaul. It could be entirely limited to the main menu and options/save settings, and would not impact anything else.
Some mods do it better, some make it far worse.

Items degrade on repair....
That'd help the longevity of the playthroughs for sure, id kill for that in vanilla. It would make repair kits less of a joke too. They still have to make them more expensive but, man that would be nice.
I have a post on the official 7DtD forum explaining how to fix the SMX UI colors at least by modding the XML but it's kind of a chore to have to do.
Bandits
UI/main menu overhaul
Event system
New quest type
Just not top of the list as other things are more important
He has kept the old workbenches where you can combine 2 of the same weapon/armor level to repair without that loss, If you use a higher level, it can take the lower level item and increase the level of the higher one.
the higher the hammer and wrench in the table slots, increased the level of the upgrade.
