I mean, I can't speak for it being planned or not for Alpha 22.... But a different problem presents itself before that; Which is that we don't yet have access to Alpha 22/1.0. Which, yknow, as a matter of course means we don't have the new UI that may or may not have been planned to be released with that version. :conwayheadscratch:

i mean , there is gameplay already from console version with no new ui. Blood moons version does have a new one tho, but it looks like ass.
New UI should be a obligatory thing for 1.0
They otta just pay the SMX dev/s for their hard work. That UI overhaul is killer!

Why? Was a new UI ever announced to be in a22/1.0?

To the best of my knowledge, the only mention of a UI change is for Q2 2025 in the roadmap. It isn't even listed as a new UI. just a UI/Main Menu overhaul. It could be entirely limited to the main menu and options/save settings, and would not impact anything else.

Id like a UI refresh just because a this point. No real reason I suppose, it'd just be nice for a fresh take.

Some mods do it better, some make it far worse.

They should include these options to vanilla:

Items degrade on repair.... :bummer::bummer::bummer::bummer::bummer:

That'd help the longevity of the playthroughs for sure, id kill for that in vanilla. It would make repair kits less of a joke too. They still have to make them more expensive but, man that would be nice.

SMX is awful, though. Can't see the tiers of items unless you already know the color code, and can't see black items in your inventory on account of them blending into the background.

I have a post on the official 7DtD forum explaining how to fix the SMX UI colors at least by modding the XML but it's kind of a chore to have to do.

A New Threat (Q2 2025)
Bandits
UI/main menu overhaul
Event system
New quest type

Just not top of the list as other things are more important

Darkness Falls has had that forever. You repair something, it loses levels. So that rank 30 AK could go to a rank 23 for example when you use a repair kit.

He has kept the old workbenches where you can combine 2 of the same weapon/armor level to repair without that loss, If you use a higher level, it can take the lower level item and increase the level of the higher one.

the higher the hammer and wrench in the table slots, increased the level of the upgrade.

Yeah, used to be standard in the Vanilla game, but was removed because it was largely abused. I do wish they had left the degradation in though. Or maybe a system where each repair drops the level of a random stat.

The new challenge system is introducing new UI elements on about the same magnitude as the magazine system added. Could be they knew that and decided to push back the overhaul until they had the entire set of functions included.

I'm intrigued now, what is this new challenge system about ? I can't seem to find anything about it in the Alpha 22/1.0 thread.

I'm really surprised Roland gave that much information on it because of NDA's. However, if you check the footage from PAX East you might find it used there.

The only thing outside of more slots, would be make the hunger/thirst meter a little bigger than 3mm.
