Horde nights are ridiculous in v1.0
so far until 1.0 first horde at day 7 was like 10-20 zombies, and thats it. Now they literally dont stop pouring. It really feels its designed you to die, no way u could have enough ammo at that stage to defend the base against never ending waves of zombies. This is not balanced, at all. day 7 horde feels like day 70, unless u run and hide on top of some building and wait for horde night to pass, u will have really bad time. and no, its not skill issue, iv played for years on insane/nightmare, right now this really feels very wrong.

That's the way it always was, it was only pathetic hordes for last few updates, but before that they always ran all night

Honestly, I was starting to think the Blood Moon hordes being a bit anemic over the last couple of alphas, or so, was me misremembering the unending tide that didn't let up until the sunrise.

I am pleased to find v1.0 Exp. returning me to the madhouse of yore, perhaps masochistically.

Yes, the late versions first horde were kind of a joke. A few hatches and a club/spear : done.

I remember when the night 7 horde night on Insane / Nightmare had the Zombies tearing down the Aldo's Cabinet and night 14 would tear down the Bakery. It was always so exciting fighting the horde back then to actually stay alive so to me this is a much welcome change back to the Alpha 17 Days.

so its supposed to be like this? u guys want to say that it is ok to have never-ending horde on day 7, while u have pipe weapons and almost no ammo? i really dont see a way for 99% of players to survive even first night, especially new or average players. i think that is bad by design, because it will push away from the game a lot of people, because it could be really demotivating knowing that u cant to anything and that u'll die for sure after 7 hours of playing, if day leinght is on default. dont get me wrong, i do like the challenge, but this is little bit over the top, especially if u play perma-death.

An escape route to a second story elevation will prevent death. They can't destroy an entire building in a night if it's cobblestone or better. I mostly block and melee until they're about to reach me and then get higher where they can't follow. After that, it's bow time and explosives (pipe bombs and molotovs) until daylight.

Great news, it's back to normal. Let me guess you're running a Forge or Campfire, non stop?
Or you've been bashing zombies heads in, your game stage has risen and your base is now not capable?
I'd just find a house you don't like and camp out on the roof for the first few horde nights. I used to do that so they wouldn't ruin my base as I was building it up.

Sacrificial and last-minute-omg-I-wasn't-paying-attention-to-the-clock bases have saved my bacon several times. I can deffo recommend these, especially when the loot-goblin virus infects you, while you are away from your main Fortress of Greed.

campfire or forge have nothing to do with this, its horde night on day 7. my game stage didnt even had time to go up, especially how much they made game slower. i made starter base on top of the bridge with narrow path, hatchframes, and its in forest biome, its on insane/nightmare settings and i managed to finish only tier 1 and 2 quests and just started doing tier 3 quests on day 7. dont get me wrong, i dont mind game being hard and its not about me, i just want to say this is unhealthy towards new or causal people, which makes majority and backbone of every single game. u want to give people a chance to learn and invest enough so they dont quit by just hitting a wall right at the begining, coz not every1 was watching Glock, GNS, IZ, etc, so they could know right away what to do. but thats just my oppinion, maybe im wrong, since i see majority of responses here actually praise difficulty being as it was long time ago. so ill just get better or stop doing perma-death

It probably encourages the use of spike traps Instead of ammo. You should be able to hold down day 7 and 14 hordes on a catwalk base with a bunch of spikes and a Bow.

you can also customize your game as you play, if its too hard decrease the zombie spawn on horde night,

lol still mild compared to the old days 9 years ago

Anyone who played 1.O now for ~100 hours and can tell if its worth starting a new game compared to A23?

no new player will play insane difficulty.. and as far as i remember every iteration i have played over again hordes have always been unlimited until day break.. on insane i can defend the base with just spears and nothing else, that said, if you are soloing on insane, you better know how to setup defense for your base as the first blood moon is just trying to survive, not killing them, so guns and bow are often useless at this stage..

IMO.. you can play however you want to.. lol

So what you mean to tell me is you almost died for the first time in years in this game, and you've come to be sour about it.

Tsk Tsk Tsk. That's what we've been asking for, don't you understand? Some semblance of challenge beyond switching the zeds to Flash Gordon.
