No Light Armor Perk ?
I see Medium Armor under agility where light armor used to be and Heavy Armor under strength but I see no light armor perk at all anymore. Since the primitive armor you make to start out with is LIGHT ARMOR and some of the new sets are LIGHT ARMOR I thought that there would be a perk for it.

If there isn't one then how would you spec into it to get more armor books? Is this an oversight or am I missing something?

Medium armor affects both light and medium armor. Read the perk descriptions. Edit: Also, all armor types are under the same crafting skill, i think? So speccing into either armor skill will help you out in that department.

Ok, that is a two for one bonus then. Thanks for clearing that up.

Just an F.Y.I. the Medium Armor Perk says absolutely NOTHING about affecting Light Armor.

Indeed, My apologies. Had to wait for my client to update and got sidetracked with some other business.

Light armor is unaffected by either armor perk, and is intended to be that way. Light armor already has no movement or stamina penalty, so it wouldn't really benefit from the perk, and it's meant to be low durability also since the goal of that armor type is to basically never be hit anyway, so it's intentionally not covered in an armor skill.

However, the bit about speccing into either armor skill to get more of the Armor Crafting magazines is correct; All armors are covered under the same crafting skill, 'Armor', from the 'Armored Up' magazine.

What I was talking about more was the "armor crafting" mags that will drop more only if you are spec'd into Med or Hvy armor perks. These mags allow ya to craft higher level armors.

If a light armor only wearer wants to get more armor crafting mags they must waste points in either med or hvy armor perks that they will not be using. This is not ideal and should be looked at and changed.

Light armor should add stealth/crit bonuses of some sort. No one is going to use an armor type that doesn't have an obvious advantage presented to them, even if on paper it does have advantages. You might as well just not have armor types at all.

the obvious advantage is the damage reduction

as for stealth, light armor should obviously have a small stealth penalty, making the best stealth "build" a no-armor character

not having a stealth penalty + damage reduction is pretty generous all things considered

It seems like a short-sighted move, no one is going to use light since it provides no bonus from the skill trees and will affect the amount of skill book drops, even if we invest into M/H it will essentially just be a waste of points. It should have a skill tree that lessens durability damage and increases damage since we are looking at a type of glass cannon build.

Unless medium armor is meant to replace light armor at high levels, I agree it's an issue that light armor not being covered by any perk makes it harder to get magazines unless you pretty much waste points on a perk you won't use. It should be covered under medium armor or have its own perk, giving other benefits meant for that play style.

Maybe stealth perks should increase light armor magazine rate?

This thread has evolved from a question to a debate on the absence of the Light Armor perk in 7dtd 1.0 and it's repercussions. It should probably be moved back into the General Discussions section where it was moved from. Please and thank you.

What about both? if you put some points into both Medium and Heavy armor do you get that more greater chance of getting the crafting magazines and armor parts?
