With every update the game got worse.
With every update the game got worse. Not just different, but worse. 7D2D will always remain in alpha version because the developers cannot agree on a system. Major changes have to be made every time. Why?? Empty glasses are removed, Molotov cocktails are absurdly expensive (300 gas??? for a Moly), and so is the endless collecting and searching of skill magazines.
The next update will do something different again. Can you stick with one system?! It's just annoying.

Luckily there is a very good mod community. Thank you for your work.
And I hope you don't have to update the new alpha! Otherwise I might forget my mods again and have to start a new game.

Mods will have to be updated for the new alpha. You will have to start a new game if you update to the new alpha.

Yep - Its true and on Point. I'm curious what will happen with the so golden Playernumbers if one day they arent able to play old Versions.

AFAIK TFP plans to have those versions available to everyone who paid for EA, even after release.

That's good to know! I wouldn't know what to do if I couldn't go back and play Alpha 9-13 at least one a year :buzzed: especially Alpha 10.

At the very least I haven't seen any kind of significant improvement in gameplay since at least 2015. It's like a dollar store that just keeps cycling its inventory.

Remember when bandits were expected in A16? Remember farming and tilling soil? Remember massive zombie hordes wandering around? Remember being able to hole up in a POI and survive a blood moon? Remember getting skill XP for doing the skill?

The weirdest thing about this game development is that there isn't any other zombie apocalypse build/explore/survive/tower defense game out there to compete with it,

Mods make it bearable - but yeah, I don't understand why they keep recycling perfectly fine systems and don't focus on important alpha stuff like bandits, NPCs and some kind of endgame.

Bandits actually were added very briefly at around A15 or A16. They were deemed not ready and commented out. Since then those original bandits were removed and new models have been created to go with all the new outfits being added in A22. A22 also will overhaul character animations as seen from 3rd person view which doesn't really matter if you are playing single player but is a huge step towards having bandits added to the game.

btw...several mods utilized that original hidden bandit code to bring bandits to the game in the years since A16 so it has been possible to play with bandits if you modded your game.

So basically modders are more competent than the developers themselves and actually give the playerbase what they want and ask for. Some things never change huh?

IMO, using code made by the devs says nothing about the competence of someone. They just activated a feature deemed not good enough yet to be released by the devs.

BTW, the great majority of the playerbase want polished bandits, not something half-assed with just the merit of being available faster and cheaper like most AAA stupidly think we want.

Don't why you're making excuses for someone else, Mithrandir. We all want polished bandits... it just shouldn't take 7+ years to do it (A16 was released in June 2017) :(

I completely agree with the fact they're slow.

I wasn't making excuse for their pace. I was countering bad arguments about coding competence and that the playerbase doesn't want half-assed done bandits just because it would be done by now instead of having to wait some more.

Would you prefer their first not so good attempt be the final one because it was faster or see them trying for a better one ?

We deal with slow devs here. So, you wait for polished stuff or you get ♥♥♥♥♥♥ half-assed content. Eternally complaining about their slow pace won't change anything. Some ppl should wait for released games instead of joining early access if they're so impatient.

And jfyi, I was playing even before A16. I know how much time has passed.

Why are people slandering the dev team for trying to fulfill promises they kept to kickstarters but decided to put a hold on it because they were not okay with the final product?

Have you guys ever played games with bandit AI? It's terrible. The pathing, shooting, detection, etc is always terrible. AI bots (in any fashion) is an EXTREMELY hard thing to accomplish in ANY game--and if it wasn't, then triple A games would've done it already with success.

I personally give props to any company willing to spend time and resources to layout a raw blueprint for how they want bandits to act....tell their developers to work on it.....and THEN have enough self-awareness to say...."this isn't good enough to meet our standards. Lets scrap it for now and revisit it later". A major company would've just said.....ah screw it....throw it out there anyways.

Am I the only one who realizes how rare this in today society?

Most companies don't care. They only care more about profit margins and pleasing investors.

boo-hoo, they're multi-millionaires, they can afford to hire more people if they wanted. There's no excuse. An untold amount of games have come to fruition in the past decade, and this game still touts itself as 'alpha'.

It's nothing but marketing to acknowledge that this will take another decade to get 'complete', if ever.

Another case of......I have nothing to add to what you said and so I will just say some random ♥♥♥♥ to make myself feel better.

Name two of those games with believable human AI navigating a dynamic, player-alterable environment.

Heck - simply name 2 of those games with believable human AI in a static environment, that doesn't scream "theme park props" in your face.

And it is alpha for ad long as it needs to technical baseline.

And TFP was pretty open since their KS campaign, what they actually try to pull.
And anyone remotely invested in their hobby could have seen, that the envelope blows basically anything, any bigger company did do so far.

I didn't beloefe, they would really try to push it with the last consequence, as this is a noticeable effort.
But here we are, and yet they do.

And I certainly appreciate that they actually go for what they sold as their vision.
