I haven't played this for yonks.
So I thought I would give it a try again.

The graphics are still as bad as ever. Look at the hills and it looks like mine craft.
Dead Mateer is crap. But it looks 10x better than this.

Text only , no graphics Adventure games were a thing and people enjoyed them.
And that's the closest thing to a "blank screen" as it can get.

Now look at RDR2 on the PC in 4K HDR and ray tracing.
It looks great and plays better.

NMS. I can dig out the ground or destroy the land and rebuild the ground if I want.
Again. Great graphics and game play.
Cyberpunk 2077/Subnautica/Son's of the forest/Ark same again.

And many other games just like those above.
So I get the best of both worlds.

I love immersion in a game, well any game.
I have a big screen so it's even better :)

Now take Starfield. I bought that and it's crap in my opinion.
The graphics are dated and everyone in the city looks like they just came from planet of the apes set.

Especially considering the popularity of games like this one, minecraft, project zomboid, rimworld, etc that don't have those wonderful pretty pictures you need. Or the older classics that still have major replay ability and following.

As you say, it's a great graphics demo and benchmark.

But that's not the same thing as a great game.

Again. I never said it was.

But for the fan boys here. I am and was talking about the graphics and nothing more.

So. If the devs use high density blocks. It could look great.

TBH the game looks decent enough for the game type. Biggest weak point are animations & their responsiveness, even though they have been improved many times. Overall though, including other parts its okay. Also: In-flight the trees and landscape doesn't look great. Not because of LOD but it just doesn't feel immersive. I think visual design was based on perspective on the ground, not in the air.

I wouldn't say though that its abysmal *overall*. I'd say its 6.5/10, maybe 7/10, which for this type of game is sufficient IMO, but better is always better...
