Is there a better fuel than wood frames?
Has anyone has found a fuel source that burns longer than wooden frames?

Fences? Cool I'll try that.

Coal was good when we got the bigger chunks, now it's just small pieces. The way the heat maps works you want something that burns as long as possible before another chunk is used if that makes sense.

That's why wooden frames are better than wood, because they last longer therefore add less heat to the heatmap.

All wood stuff were reajusted in 13.7 so fences don't give a bonus anymore.

Just put plain wood. Unless you want to take the time to craft woog logs to burn?

You have to look at the burn time, calc. helps.

Just plain wood if you don't have coal, wood is such a fast resource, you can harvest tons of it in minutes.

Burn Oil shale. I burn wood until I have an oil shale mine. Then I burn that.

how long do they last sj1971?

As Merida said: most if not all wooden objects have been rebalanced to not give "bonus burn time" as for example wood spikes used to give.

The two reasons to NOT burn normal wood today are:
* that you can get some EXP by reworking the wood into something else. you get the same burn time, but you get some "bonus" experience.
* prolonging the burn time of the objects so that heat map generation doesn't spike away realy fast.

If you are going to build something to burn it works mostly like this:

Item requires 10 wood = burn time is 10 x Wood Burn Time.

If the object you receive comes in "packages" like Wood Spikes comes in 3 at a time, the time is devided between those. So say Wood Spikes costs 15 wood and gives you 3 Spikes. Each spike burns (15 * WoodBurnTime) / 3

Hope this helps.

Regardless, I still grab wooden chairs, end tables and anything that will burn and stuff it into my campfire/forge.

I'm practically running off of IKEA right now.
