Imagine my surprise when all the zombies and dogs started chasing me!
Needless to say, I quickly died and started the painful learning process...
I also remember all the attacks and hate from part of the community when something was changed or added and it wasn't well received. Remember the "Bow Gate"? There was only the primitive bow at the time (but I don't think it was called "primitive") and they nerfed it at some point, because it was honestly way OP... all hell broke loose!
At some point there was also that huge attack, from part of the community, to one of the best moderators we had at the time (I think his name was Jaga), and at some point he decided to resign to avoid unsettling the community.
A lot of bad things from this community, but also a lot of good in-game memories.
All in all, I must say it's been an interesting and fun ride.
And by the way... Nixon would be very happy to hear that in this forum, talking about the "watergate", has nothing to do with him!
I decided to take the leap of faith and bought the game during the winter steam sale just before the end of the year for $29.99 (regular price $34.99). At the time there were lots of threads on this forum about the game crashing and computers overheating trying to run the game, etc. So I was nervous about whether an early access game like this would even work on my rig which wasn't high end by any means.
I did have to make some sacrifices in the settings so the game didn't look very pretty at all for quite awhile until I eventually upgraded my computer. But gameplay-wise it was one of the best decisions I've ever made in video game purchases. 10-years later I still play, I have explored many mods, and enjoyed the entire evolution of this game over the years, and best of all....I never spent a dime on Rust. lol!
No game I own gives me the feeling 7 days gives. I do find vanilla stale but there are so many great overhaul mods which change the base game. Right now my obsession is A21 Ravenhearst. I will play this game the rest of my life. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!
Which is why if you sense passion in my critiques regarding 7D2D it comes from a place of love not hate!
To this day, still more hours logged in this madness than any other game I own, outside of an MMO
Most fun I've ever got out of 30$.
