Why does this game overheat every PC or laptop I use?
This game has caused one laptop to shut off due to overheating on the lower settings and others to get so hot it causes my beautiful white skin to burn beneath the laptops underbelly. FURTHERMORE, it makes all my computers whir and hum like they're about to take off. I usually cannot play this game for more than 30 minutes at a time for fear of it overheating my devices. Does anyone else have this problem or am I just a filthy casual that needs to get a better computer?

The game does, as you have experienced, push hardware pretty hard. In particular it loads the CPU harder than most titles, as opposed to *most* games using less CPU, more GPU. Do you experience the same issue whilst benchmarking your CPU or GPU?
As to solutions, it's cooling, cooling and more cooling. That probably sounds facetious, but it's how it is. Clean any filters and potentially the insides, consider adding more or better fans, for laptops then either a cooling pad or propping it up on something to allow more air in/out.

I'll end with a personal note/rant: Too many modern cases prioritise sleek looks over functional cooling. Tempered glass is not known for being particularly porous.

During Blood Moon using the Your End overhaul set of mods, my CPU runs at a max of 62°C and an average of 38°C. My GPU runs at a max of 59°C and an average of 32°C.

My specs:
- Case: Cooler Master TD500
- OS: Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700x
- CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition RGB
- RAM: 64GB 3200mhz DDR4
- Motherboard: TUF Gaming B450+ II
- GPU: XFX RX 6700 10GB

I would suggest before investing into anything, that you check your CPU thermal paste, and you have ample cooling vents. For example, my tower has three 120mm input fans, one 120mm back output fan, and one 140mm vertical output fan. I also use an external blower fan to move the output fan heat up and away from the computer, since my PC is next to a wall, where heat can get recycled back into the computer.

Yeah, I probably do need more ways to cool them down. And I don't clean them as often as I should. lol

Could be your hardware im on the steam deck and it has never caused my device to overheat

I recommend that when your playing make sure to close all unnecessary processes that are running in the background and turn your graphics down to medium or low

To do this on windows just use task manager which should be ctrl+alt+delete Linux users like me use system monitor

add some fpslimit, or reduce gpu performace... im playing most off the games on 70% gpu power, becouse i dont like sound of the cooling fans

Auf Gaming Laptop: Asus ROG i7, 64GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1080 8GB
Auf Gaming Rechner: ASUS Prime, i7, 64GB Ram, Intel ARC A770 16GB
Maximale Einstellungen, minimale Systemauslastung. KEINE Überhitzung.
Mehr Geld für Hardware und weniger für LED geblinke ausgeben. ;)
Ich spiele alles auf Ultra, hatte noch nirgendwo Probleme.

Like jagis mentioned above; the game itself will often run your CPU+GPU at max speeds unless you turn on an FPS cap like the game's built-in VSYNC option (it also has a VSYNC HALF option which runs at HALF your screen's refresh-rate and helps laptops keep cooler).

Most computers/laptops can safely handle running their CPU+GPU at max speeds, they'll just run their fans loud...and some crappier models may noticeably throttle down their CPU/GPU speeds if fanspeeds aren't enough to keep their temperature under control.
If you're having full shutdowns or crashes, then it's likely the fans/heatsinks are jammed with dust like mentioned above.

In short, try to carefully vacuum your fans/heatsinks (preferably while gently holding them still so they don't spin from the vacuum air movement)...or carefully Qtip/toothpick wipe the heatsinks if you can reach well enough without just pushing the dirt into the adjacent parts.
And turn on the game's VSYNC in the top/left tab of the options menu.
