Get rid of "death count" or have an option to disable it.
I don't care to see how many times i've died and it's to be honest quite annoying when 75% of the deaths on this game are caused by flawed design. This has legitimately caused me to not play this game anymore. There's no way to edit stats yet I can create an entire world?

**Always back up your XML before making any edits, or use a modlet.

For the stats window. open your 7DTD install folder then go to \Data\Config\XUi\windows.xml

search for "playerdeaths" and comment the out the line like so:
<!--<player_stats_entry backgroundcolor="[darkGrey]" textcontent="{playerdeathstitle|once}" valuecontent="{playerdeaths}" />-->

That should take care of the death count in that window.

For the players window I couldn't just comment it out, that caused some errors. My workaround was to set the font size for the death count label to 1. It is technically still there, but just a tiny dot you cant read.

Open \Data\Config\XUi\controls.xml

search for "deathsText" and change font_size="26" to font_size="1":

<label depth="1" name="deathsText" pos="0,-18" height="38" font_size="1" justify="center" pivot="left" />

It may be possible to add an option to toggle it, but this is as much as I feel like doing. Hope it helps.

Just…. Ignore it? Not sure how a single figure in a menu stops you from playing.
Then again, if you want to play deathless, it can be annoying to see.
In the end though, it’s not like it affects anything gameplay wise.

None of my deaths have been due to flawed design. Current playthrough I died 4 times in like 24 days due to me making dumb choices or....well, my own fault basically but definitely never from "flawed design".

So Im curious as to what flawed design caused your death(s)?

We're discussing a feature not my decision making or how I play. There are literal threads on the 7days forums of people using Hex Editors to change these stats instead of it just being naturally allowed to be disabled.

Fair enough. I will rephrase my comment to say in my opinion, how many times I've died isnt a big deal but I hope you get a solution to your issue. Have fun 👍🏻

There's an achievement for dying and deaths, so maybe they don't want to hide the number or disable the tracking so that you don't inadvertently make that achievement inaccessible? I'm guessing a player like you wouldn't care about an achievement like that, but that might be the design reason behind that.

Get rid of ? Definitely not.
An option to disable it ? No problem.

How many times you die is relevant to the game considering it changes how the game is directed as far as game stage goes. If you are dying so much, turn down the difficulty.

Oh, sweetheart, surviving in 7 days can be quite the ordeal, can't it? Don't fret, I'm here to offer you some gentle guidance so you can stay alive a bit longer in that unforgiving world. Here are some precious tips to consider:

Find Yourself a Cozy Shelter:

Darling, it's crucial to locate or construct a shelter right away. Make sure it's robust enough to withstand those persistent zombie attacks.
Gather Those Darling Resources:

Sweetie, go out there and collect resources like wood, stone, and plant fibers. Don't forget to loot buildings for supplies; it's like shopping, but with more undead friends.
Craft Your Little Heart Out:

Craft some basic tools, like stone axes and shovels. Upgrading your tools is like upgrading your wardrobe – essential for survival, darling.
Nighttime is for Beauty Sleep:

When the sun sets, be a dear and find a cozy spot to hide. Zombies can be a bit much at night, and we wouldn't want to ruin that lovely complexion of yours.
Take It Easy on the Stamina:

Sweetheart, keep an eye on your stamina. It's like conserving energy for a grand performance. Use food and drinks to keep that pep in your step.
Farming and Hunting, How Delightful:

Start a little garden for yourself, and consider hunting for meat and hides. It's like hosting your little dinner party in the apocalypse.
Know Your Zombies, Darling:

Those zombies have their own little dance routine. Learn their moves to avoid any unwanted drama. Sneaking around is your best friend.
Defend Your Territory in Style:

Darling, darling, build some fabulous defenses like spikes, traps, and walls. A bit of glam goes a long way in keeping those zombies at bay.
Level Up Like a Star:

Focus on leveling up skills that suit your fabulous self – whether it's with weapons, crafting, or health-related skills.
Explore Like a Sophisticated Explorer:

Explore with grace, dear. Some places are a bit too haute for you at the moment. Always carry enough supplies when strutting your stuff in new territories.

Sorry about that, Odin, some of the posts are from trolls that got lost. However, this is one of my favorite games and I'd hate to see you give up on it over a few haters.

The great post by Prigozhin neglects few important pointers, but I'd add that altitude is your friend. Even stacking a couple of blocks to stand on will win most fights. Rooftops make great forts but beware of roofs that can be broken through. Go up.

I appreciate your kind words. I've been playing this game on and off for roughly 6 years since it was released on console so I won't be leaving anytime soon lol. The transition was a little interesting with new perks, skills, systems, etc. However there's been a couple if not a few instances where my game has crashed and I rebooted to be dead, a time where I got set on fire and it refused to de-ignite, a random landmind, etc. There's a few posts saying to ignore it but it's slightly hard to do that when everytime I go to see my zombies killed it's in straight bold letters right beside it.

I just think this is really a non issue your stating. The stat tracking affects quite literally nothing, and I doubt the fun pimps will address it. I think you just need to change your mentality, for example IF I was bothered by this issue and I knew these deaths weren’t my fault, I would look at them as “near misses” or something like that.
