Pc/steam/windows/mouse and keyboard issue?
So I’ve been having some really frustrating issues in regards to gaming with multiple different games, but most recently 7days to die, when I press escape to let out of the crafting menu my pc brings up my desktop screen along with other applications that are open, I cannot get back to playing once that happens. I’m able to reselect my game but it won’t let me do anything at all. My keyboards completely stops working I can’t type on it at all, and oddly enough my mouse even won’t let me select certain things. I.e. rightclicking anywhere, and it also won’t let me restart my pc though the windows app. And another side note when I was in a voice chat it severely distorted the other members voice a whole octave lower than his normal voice. Super strange. I’m at a complete loss and I don’t know if anyone’s had the same issues.

TIA!

Things I have done to try to fix:

Updated ALL my drivers.
Unplugged my mouse and keyboard.
Installed virus protection.
Troubleshooted my keyboard,
Troubleshooted all my devices.
Hard restated my pc multiple times.

I don't have a solution only suggestions.

What version of windows?

Try a different keyboard.

Try running the game with no other apps open.

Don't simply update drivers, but uninstall them and restart.

Before uninstalling drivers, click "View" in device manager and select "show hidden devices" see if there are duplicates for keyboard or USB devices

Go to device manager, uninstall your keyboard drivers and restart.

Do the same for USB drivers

Run the game as admin

I swear I had something similar happen not long ago. Just can't recall how I fixed it atm.

When this happens can you ctrl-alt-delete for task manager? Does alt-tab work? While your PC is working normally, go into task manager settings and tick "always on top".

Would you mind posting your detailed specs, including OS and software that you see running in the background in the task manager?

If not, I'd try to see if there's any program or windows service that looks suspicious.
I'm not saying it's a virus, because that should have been detected by your AV, I'm saying there could be something running which bugged out or is interfering with your system in an unpredictable way (maybe).

Edit: I also have been using this software[www.iolo.com] on my computer for years, maybe you could try it too and see if it can find what your issue is.
