What version of windows?
Try a different keyboard.
Try running the game with no other apps open.
Don't simply update drivers, but uninstall them and restart.
Before uninstalling drivers, click "View" in device manager and select "show hidden devices" see if there are duplicates for keyboard or USB devices
Go to device manager, uninstall your keyboard drivers and restart.
Do the same for USB drivers
Run the game as admin
I swear I had something similar happen not long ago. Just can't recall how I fixed it atm.
When this happens can you ctrl-alt-delete for task manager? Does alt-tab work? While your PC is working normally, go into task manager settings and tick "always on top".
If not, I'd try to see if there's any program or windows service that looks suspicious.
I'm not saying it's a virus, because that should have been detected by your AV, I'm saying there could be something running which bugged out or is interfering with your system in an unpredictable way (maybe).
Edit: I also have been using this software[www.iolo.com] on my computer for years, maybe you could try it too and see if it can find what your issue is.
