Best use of 44 ammo?
I got the Deagle but it's obscenely loud and annoying, inaccurate, and holds up poorly end-game to me (Silencer still aggros all, as it should, range bad, and non-automatic not good for hordes).

But I've accumulated a massive amount of ammo. What's the best use for this? I wish there was a turret that used the ammo.

Alternative convo : How to enjoy using .44 ammo

If you have a large quantity of consumables and ammo, you have a heavy case of "I'm saving it for later" and the only cure is to just use it. Go through T3-T4 PoIs deagles blazin' and one-tap every zombie, or even go for infected T5+. The Deagle is very strong, and it's my personal gun of choice.

Other than that, if you don't like .44 weapons then don't use them. Melt the ammo for brass and craft bullets for weapons you like instead.

Any way to get gunpowder out of them? I have like 10 stacks of brass that I don't even use currently, but no gunpowder.
I'll try to run through with the deagle I just don't see the appeal maybe I'm trash lol.

I mounted scope on DE / Magnum and used them as pocket sniper rifles.

As for collecting excess ammo yeah this game throws it at the player like candy :P i get way more ammo from loot than i am spending. Even using guns only doesn't help.

I just ended up ignoring ammo in loot and not pick any up untill the 6 extra large crates full of loot ammo i have in my base get emptied.

Lmao I'm not there yet but I have almost 1 full crate of half magnum, half pistol. I just ran like 3 speed missions, brought 600 rounds for magnum, by the end I left with 550 only barely a dent in the idk 20-40 stacks I have lol. Money has no use in game either so selling pointless.

Well, look at it this way, experience has shown you what to change up in your setting for the next play-through. You learn more every time in relation to the way YOU like to play. Everyone plays differently because they can. That's what's so cool about this game. Tweak it until it's perfect for you to enjoy. You could even go into the xml files to change drop rates for ammo (though, I think there's a modlet for that).

Ideally, recycle for brass and then, after farming the other materials, produce your favorite ammunition accordingly.

Melt whatever you're not using/specializing in and craft more/better ammo for the guns you are specialized in.

Unfortunately there's no way to actually "pull bullets" out of their casings like in RL to get the gunpowder, bullet, & the casings and reuse them. I think there are mods with custom workstations that would recover all the materials like this, but that's up for you to try or not.

I'm typically burning through all the ammo I accumulate from quests during blood moons so I don't usually run into this issue tbh. Although, it's true the 44 does have some limited usage compared to 9mm or 7.62mm since there is no full-auto capability with the two weapons. A character with a sniper rifle and "dead eye" maxed build is going to do more with 7.62mm AP ammo than 44mag AP ammo, while the 9mm (at the normal FMJ) can be useful with SMG turrets for whatever application you want to use them for, just base protection or clearing blood moon hordes.

I think the .44 (DV or Magnum) should have guaranteed knockdown or something close to it because it really doesn't hold up in the tough situations. I would rather have the pistol or the SMG honestly.

If a late-stage gun isn't incredible damage-per-second output, it needs some kind of special ability to separate it from the pack. And I'm not counting those gun perks/book perks because those are okay, but they arent outstanding.

.44's are cool but not ideal for a lot of tough situations.

When I use the deagle/magnum, it's usually either as an opener or a heavy-hitter for encounters. I have no issues with accuracy - I'm usually either sneaking or running backwards away from large numbers of zombies when I'm using it anyway - but I don't like how long it takes to reload.

.44 ammo stacking up over time is definitely a relatable issue, and a bit of a conundrum. I don't think there's anything else in the sphere of gunplay that really uses it, is there? What could they add to resolve the issue?

There are mods that let you use it in a lever gun. A .44 lever gun should be in the base game.

Smelt it and make other ammo

A .44 lever action should be in the base game.

More Weapons or also a conversion mod would be nice, like a Mateba unica 6 (and the long rivel version which name i forgot) in .44 would be awesome.
